Today, with @PramilaJayapal & @RepBrendanBoyle, I’m introducing a bill for a two-cent #WealthTax on net worths above $50 million—a few cents more for billionaires. This will raise at least $3 trillion to #BuildBackBetter and increase opportunity for all.

Sadly, the Republican Party has turned its back on democracy and evolved into an authoritarian party – suppressing the vote, pushing big lies and conspiracy theories. Too many Americans have fought and died to defend our democratic way of life. We cannot and will not fail them.
While Walmart refuses to raise its $11 minimum wage, Alice Walton had no problem purchasing a $500 million private art collection, buying a $25 million 2-floor Park Avenue condo with 52 windows and acquiring a $22 million 4,400-acre Texas ranch. Something is very wrong here.
Let it sink in that every House Republican voted against giving hard working families $1,400 checks - families struggling to put food on the table, families struggling to pay their bills, and generally families hit hard by COVID.
This is what we are dealing with.
Refusing to increase the minimum wage is essentially a subsidy to corporations that refuse to pay workers enough to live on.
In turn, workers use public benefits to make ends meet and taxpayers end up footing the bill.
I'm sick and tired of corporations claiming otherwise.
Late last night, I voted YES on the COVID relief package.
Relief checks. Funding for vaccines and reopening schools. Food, unemployment and rental assistance.
These measures are urgently necessary. And incredibly popular.
The Senate must act. There’s no time to waste.
On ABC’s This Week on Feb 21, Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA) refused to admit that Democrat Joe Biden had legitimately won the 2020 presidential election. That’s not just crazy: it’s scary.
TEXANS: FEMA assistance is now available for you to apply at https://t.co/Jgmuz0LP3A
Make sure you take photos 📸 , keep all receipts 🧾, and document EVERYTHING you can to rebuild.
Thank you for hosting me, @RepSylviaGarcia! Extra gracias for sending me home with tamales 🫔☺️
“No, I wouldn’t. ... I would not support him for re-election in 2024,” GOP Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas says of Trump on @CNNSotu. Also says of Trump: “He will define our party if we let him define our party,” he tells @DanaBashCNN
Republicans controlled our national government in 2017 and used “reconciliation” to give massive tax breaks to corporate donors and the wealthiest families. Surely Democrats can use the same tool to raise the minimum wage to $15/hr so American families don’t live in poverty.
We hit $3.2 MILLION in Texas relief support last night!
One of the places it’s going is the Houston Food Bank. I’m visiting Reps. @JacksonLeeTX18 & @LaCongresista with volunteers to pack meals.
The bank REALLY needs helping hands.
Can you join a shift? https://t.co/93wBfD4YdI
This is what happens when they lose elections. Instead of trying to convince voters to vote for them based on a better vision for the future, they just try to get rid of voters they don’t like.
Let me get this straight. @GregAbbott_TX thinks Texans prefer to suffer in this Frozen Hell so the power companies don't have to deal with federal regulations so the federal government has to come in and save their asses?
Am I missing something? #TexasFreeze#TexasBlackout
Years of deregulation and the failure of leaders to care about the needs of their constituents made Texas a failed state not because gov't doesn't work for the people but because republicans refuse to govern for the people. The same is true for almost every republican led state.
.@AOC, who represents the Bronx and Queens, has now raised $2 million in relief for Texas. She’s also flying there today to help distribute supplies.
She’s doing the job that Ted Cruz refuses to do.
