Dear Sir,

I am writing to you to raise my concerns and lay a formal complaint in regards to the actions of Rawiri Waititi in the house last week when he thought it appropriate to bring a noose into the debate.

According to the office of the Chief Coroner, statistics show in the year to June 2024, 617 people died of suspected suicide. A rate of 11.2 suicides per 100,000 people.

Suicide among Māori is extremely high in comparison to other ethnicities, especially among younger Māori males.

What Rawiri did was performance politics. It was poor taste and has the ability to open the wounds of those families who have had to deal with the suicide of a family member.

My own whānau have been affected by suicide, more than once as have many others and this behaviour is not what I and many other New Zealanders feel is appropriate behaviour of a MP who is meant to represent voters.

Mr Speaker, you have the power to up hold standards within the house and I feel you have a long way to go to do that, but I believe it would be in the public's interest that you address Rawiri bringing the noose into the house.

Beyond that I feel a professional dress code in the house that doesn't include hats and keffiyeh is more appropriate. The attire of some of our politicians would not be acceptable in the private sector and it's ridiculous that voters and taxpayers are paying for representation that quite frankly, looks like they smell.

New Zealanders have seen far too much chaos and disorder in the house due to the standards slipping and I think it's time you, as the speaker of the house did something to address that.

Questions I would like to see the media ask the Green Party today:
- Why is Benjamin Doyle not at work?
- How is his safety an issue at Parliament? Is his safety any more compromised than any high profile MPs?
- Are you hiding Doyle from having to face questions in the hope this will go away over recess?
- Is it the Greens' position still that there is nothing wrong with the language used in Benjamin's alt Instagram?
- Do you accept that cultural lingo can still be inappropriate in some contexts e.g. when captioning photos of a child?
- What do you say to the gays and lesbians who have expressed dismay and anger at Chloe's characterisation of Doyle's behaviour as normal in the "rainbow community"?
- Has the Party's handling of the Doyle situation been appropriate?
- Do you think it is tenable for Doyle to remain as an MP?
- Are the Greens confident that there are no other skeletons in Doyle's closet?
- Why have the Greens not removed Doyle from the early childhood and Māori education portfolios?
- Kahurangi Carter has the Copyright Parody and Satire Bill on the list, will the Greens be withdrawing this Bill given they used copyright as a justification to get the Defund the Police billboards taken down? Why not?
- Why would you not support the Defund the Police billboards given it is the stated position of your MPs? Isn't it free advertising?
- Is it no longer the Greens position that prisons should be abolished and police defunded? If so, will Tamatha Paul and Chloe Swarbrick be issuing retractions?
- If prisons were abolished, what would the Greens expect NZ to do with our worst criminals - the Christchurch Terrorist for example?
- What do you say to those who are questioning if Chloe is a liability to the centre-left voting block?

Appearing in an Air New Zealand safety video (someone say carbon footprint?), Anchor - which is owned by Fonterra (Green Party frequently targets Fonterra), Nike (Always issues) Winger Motors (They sell gas guzzlers like the RAM 1500 - enough said) NZ Beef and Lamb etc.

You get the point.

If you are sponsored by a car dealership that sells gas guzzlers you can’t be that angry about climate change.
