Autumn is a good reminder that I’d be fine without AI for another century if we could just have touch screens that don’t create a dozen calendar events and set up a bunch of timers every time a drop of water comes near them.

I used to believe in lowering the barriers to entry. I’ve since realized that it’s a disservice to people to teach them they don’t have to learn anything, just letting them plateau right at the bottom. That’s how you build a gap, not remove it.

Could be eNbaLed for all I care as long as it does what it’s supposed to with tests to prove it, without excessive resource usage, bugs or races. The rest is for when there’s nothing actually useful left to do and the company just wants to keep you on payroll.

Did a bit of stargazing last night in a hunt for shooting stars. I wasn’t the only animal on the hunt at night, so the soundscape was nice. Unfortunately my phone camera is too shite for shooting shooting stars, but here’s some pretty stars nonetheless.

@rakyll I’ve personally felt like I’ve seen more of the opposite: a lot of the chaos has come from people who were worried about their jobs and created busywork affecting entire organizations to stay relevant.

@simplex_fx @SebAaltonen I think we just need to normalize deleting tests. They can help a lot during development in teasing out for example synchronization issues that are a pain to fix later, but if they slow you down later when changing 50% of the code and interface of that module, just delete them.
