I want you to convince me, as I will offer my arguments for my thoughts. 2n is a multiplication, in third grade and still now. Without anything to explicitly tell you youre dividing 8 by the whole 2n term, it's not wrong to treat it as 8÷2×n

They then don't solve it L->R, instead placing every after the ÷ under a line.
