Last month, we ran our first medical outreach @EdenbrookeHomes 🥰

A full day at The Celestial Church of Christ in Mokola, Ibadan. Older adults who’d been quietly managing their health alone came in, got properly seen, and left with the medications they needed in hand.

100 people came through, and while some hadn’t been checked in a while, a few found out that day that something was wrong — and now they know, and can do something about it.

The part that stayed with me was when one of the elderly attendees was asked if they’d prefer a social event invite next time, or a health check — and they said event/outing.

This just proves that a lot of times, elderly people just want to go out there and feel young again. They want to mingle and socialize with their peers way more than we think.

We pulled it off with a team that showed up for free, and with people who donated money and supplies because they believed it should happen. And it did.

This isn’t outreach for its own sake. It’s the beginning of what @EdenbrookeHomes is here to do — make sure the people who built this country aren’t left to face old age alone.
