This is a very interesting point because in the Iliad and Odyssey, we don't see any guilt or grief on the part of those sacking cities.

After sacking Troy, Odysseus sails off to Thrace and tells us how he sacked Ismarus. His description is cold and abrupt:

“From Ilios the wind bore me and brought me to the Cicones, to Ismarus. There I sacked the city and slew the men; and from the city we took their wives and great store of treasure, and divided them among us, that so far as lay in me no man might go defrauded of an equal share.”

The tragedy here is the Ciciones rallied men and drove Odysseus's force off, killing many. This is a pattern repeated throughout Homer: the moral consideration is for the warband and not the victims of the warband. "Sacker of cities" is an epithet given to great heroes like Achilles and Odysseus; it is a point of pride, as is taking great booty and women.

Odysseus feels no regret at sacking Troy or anywhere else, he only laments the hardships he and his men personally suffer. His morality is confined to his warband and his family and property. Ultimately, it revolves around his own wellbeing.

We're given no reason to think Odysseus has PTSD from sacking cities, indeed he seems to enjoy it.

OMG, I cannot believe that people are complaining about the camera notch on the new MacBook Pros. You do understand that you’re GAINING screen area, right? Apple extended the image up into what used to be blackness. (And put the menu bar there. The notch doesn’t block anything.)
