What a disgrace. Gamel Kheir, the secretary of the Lebanese Muslim Association, told Canterbury Bankstown Cr, Barbara Coorey to “keep her mouth shut” after she opposed the broadcast of the Islamic call to prayer from Lakemba Mosque. Clearly he doesn’t understand we live in a democracy & don’t appreciate implied threats made to public officials. Maybe this bloke is living in the wrong country.

Harry appears not to understand his own titles or what they mean. Then again, expecting him to understand the basics of the British Monarchy may have been setting the bar a touch too high.

“Prince of England” is not, and never has been, an official royal title. Harry’s not Prince of England, and his wife’s not Princess of England.

There’s only one current territorial title beginning with “Prince of”, and that’s Prince William. He is styled Prince of Wales. Catherine is styled The Princess of Wales.

Before any Squaddie jumps in, Meghan isn’t Princess of England and wouldn’t be styled that way even if such a title existed.

She’s not a birth princess, and “Princess” does not precede her name. The same is true of Catherine, and it was true of Diana. They are or were princesses by marriage, not by birth. Princess Anne and Princess Charlotte are examples of birthright princesses.

Prince of Wales is a unique territorial title granted solely to the heir apparent. It dates back to 1301, when Edward I invested his son, the future Edward II.

While Charles was Prince of Wales, Harry was correctly styled Prince Harry of Wales as a courtesy, reflecting his father’s territorial designation rather than a title he held in his own right.

The same principle applies today to Prince William’s children, who are styled Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales, and Prince Louis of Wales because their father is the Prince of Wales. The use of Prince and Princess, along with the HRH dignity, was extended to all of William’s children from birth through the 2012 Letters Patent issued by Queen Elizabeth II.

Harry’s courtesy style of Prince Harry of Wales came to an end on 8 September 2022, the moment Charles acceded to the throne and ceased to be Prince of Wales.

By then, Harry had already been created Duke of Sussex in 2018, a title he holds in his own right.

The title Harry holds by birth is Prince of the United Kingdom.

That’s a royal status conferred under the sovereign’s Letters Patent, specifically the 1917 Letters Patent issued by King George V. It isn’t a peerage or a territorial title.

England’s only one of the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom. Yes, we had Kings and Queens of England once upon a time, but since the Acts of Union in 1707, the monarchy has served the whole of the United Kingdom, not England alone.

There has therefore been no official “Prince of England”. That one’s about as real as a three-pound note.

His correct styles are Prince Harry (Henry) and Duke of Sussex, with his birth style being that of a Prince of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, more commonly shortened to Prince of the United Kingdom.

It’s a rather extraordinary situation when the finer points of someone’s own royal styles and titles seem to be better understood by historians and observers than by the person holding them. 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️

Nike pays Erling Haaland roughly $20 million a year to be photographed with their products. A family-run western store in Dallas just got the same treatment for free. Better than free: Haaland paid them $750 for a taxidermy raccoon hugging a whiskey bottle.

The backstory makes it better. Haaland walked into Wild Bill's Western Store during Norway's World Cup run and bought cowboy hats, exotic boots, a longhorn belt buckle, and a shirt reading "Y'all can kiss my Dallas." The owner says Haaland knew nothing about cowboy hats and had to be fitted for his first one.

Then Norway's Cinderella run ended in the quarterfinals, and the tournament's breakout star, seven goals, carried the raccoon off the plane in Oslo himself. Caption: "It followed me home." Then he ran an Instagram poll asking fans to name it.

The results for a boot shop that's been family-owned since the 1970s: the Whiskey Raccoon is sold out. The Dallas shirt is nearly gone. Their $500 Belligerent Squirrel, a taxidermy squirrel smoking a cigarette and holding Jack Daniel's, is down to low stock. Local shoppers are lining up at a store most of them had walked past for years.

Sports brands run entire celebrity seeding departments trying to manufacture exactly this: a global superstar genuinely delighted by a product, on camera, unprompted. Every one of those campaigns reads as an ad, because it is one.

Brands spend $20 million a year renting Haaland's image. Wild Bill's sold it to him for $750.

After Norway’s loss to England, Erling Haaland stayed in the stands for hours, taking photos and speaking with supporters. He remained until around 9:30 p.m. and was reportedly the last Norwegian player to leave the stadium.

In another video from last month, Haaland was also seen spending time with fans after the game in Dallas.

Throughout Norway’s World Cup run, he has become a fan favourite and a genuine man of the people, consistently making time for the supporters who travelled to see him.
