Dave Grohl played drums on "No One Knows" and on most of Queens of the Stone Age's 2002 album Songs for the Deaf, as the band did not have a permanent drummer at the time.

The song became Queens of the Stone Age's biggest hit, reaching #1 on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart (their only song to top the chart), #5 on Mainstream Rock Airplay, #51 on the US Billboard Hot 100, #15 on the UK Singles Chart, and #1 in Australia's Triple J Hottest 100 of 2002. It also won the 2003 Kerrang! Award for Best Single and received a Grammy nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance.
