Two new amicus briefs drafted.

1. The first should be filed in the Maryland State Supreme Court next week, urging cert in a reciprocity case. Facts similar to Gardner, this time it was someone with a DC permit. It is short, because amicus briefs in support of cert are limited to just 1,900 words. It's a very cut down version of the Gardner brief.

Not getting our hopes up for a grant given it is Maryland, but if they do get granted, we'll do a longer amicus brief. If they are denied and seek SCOTUS cert, we will support them there too.

2. The next one will be before the Massachusetts Supreme Court. Not talking about that one yet and it is a bit more controversial (a "who" case), but we will probably need to find local counsel to file it.

The scotus created the mess in the 1st place. IMO the scotus thought by allowing the flood of cases, it would overwhelm the Trump DoJ and they would reverse course, but Trump doubled down and the TDS afflicted show no sign of stopping the flood. So, now it's the court system that is buckling and the Scotus will have to decide if illegals are worth destroying the judicial system.

While Trump is repeatedly blocked by judges or sued by libs, the majority of cases against the admin have failed and most of his policies stay active.

Up to 60% of cases against Trump have ended in a dismissal or win for the admin, and the losses are largely appealed.

Chicago passed an ordinance that requires anyone that buys a rental property via foreclosure sale to negotiate new leases with existing tenants in good faith. If they cannot agree, the ordinance requires paying $10,600 in relocation. Taking? No, per Judge Scudder.

Spanberger won big last year in the election. Yet she absolutely torched her political capital to serve her campaign financiers at Everytown, passing an unpopular AWB that had nothing to do with the affordability argument voters elected her on.

(And the gerrymandering attempt didn't help either.)

In exchange for falling underwater in approval rating in a state she won by 15 points in November, Spanberger got a 3-point gerrymandering win that her state supreme court blocked, and three weeks of an AWB.

What a deal!

If the GOP regains the House, there is a very strong case to be made that Gavin Newsom is to blame.

If he didn’t respond to Texas’ census error correction (which only likely nets the GOP 3 seats this cycle), good chance the other red states don’t even bother tacking on the extra ~10 seats.

Maybe you can say Callais would have redrawn Louisiana, but I’m not sure states like Tennessee or Alabama would have been bold enough to go through with mid-decade redistricting.

And Virginia’s referendum failure was on the part of the Dems’ own incompetency too, but it wouldn’t have happened either if Newsom didn’t go forward with Prop 50

Remember this if the GOP holds on and they try to claim it was “only because it was rigged”
