Good morning, New Jersey (not sure how "good" it is),

Last night, State Democrats approved a $60.7 BILLION budget, without much by way of debate or the ability to question why certain decisions were made. The budget was voted out of committee without any real scrutiny or review with minutes to spare to avoid a constitutional crisis!

Here's one interesting line item - providing a substantial line of credit to Jersey City.

The budget includes a $105 million check to Jersey City as a "loan" while also increasing its already healthy municipal aid amount by another $15 million.

Jersey City is home to extraordinary wealth, billions of dollars in redevelopment, and a substantial tax base. Yet after years of public audits identifying recurring financial deficiencies and Corrective Action Plans that failed to resolve them, the answer from Trenton is another $120 million in taxpayer assistance.

That raises some important questions.

If these fiscal problems were known for years, where was the oversight? Why didn’t the Legislature hear testimony from the Department of Community Affairs or other fiscal experts before approving a $105 million loan?

What are the repayment terms? What interest rate will Jersey City pay? What safeguards protect New Jersey taxpayers if the loan is not repaid?

And what about the municipalities that make the difficult decisions every year to balance their budgets, maintain healthy reserves, and live within their means? What do they receive in return?

This is one of the many examples why New Jersey’s budget earns an F.

It fails taxpayers, who are asked to assume more financial risk without transparency.

It fails municipalities that practice sound fiscal management.

It fails students, parents, and teachers who continue to lose under a broken school funding formula and an unsustainable State Health Benefits Plan.

It turns it back on businesses in NJ (that is an entirely different post).

Good government asks the hard questions before the vote, not after. New Jersey taxpayers deserve better.

- Expands housing-related programs and grants without adding stronger verification, citizenship requirements, or bans on funds flowing to noncitizens
- States like California would be able to use the money for programs to pay for housing for illegals
- The bill does not restrict non-US citizens or foreign entities from buying home
- It expands COVID-era eviction moratoriums and protections, which favors tenants like noncitizens over landlords and American citizens

Last night, Darializa Avila Chevalier — endorsed by NYC-DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) — beat a five-term incumbent to win New York's 13th congressional district.

@AsraNomani has been reporting on their ties to Cuba and the China/Singham network. But what’s not known is DSA’s deep ties to the German government.

The Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (RLS) is the political foundation of Die Linke — the German parliamentary party formed from the merger of the Party of Democratic Socialism, itself the legal successor to East Germany's ruling Marxist party, the SED.

Under German law, every party in the Bundestag gets a taxpayer-funded foundation. Die Linke's share is approximately EUR70MM annually.

Most German party foundations sponsor conferences, publish research, and fund exchange programs. What RLS-NYC did was put its own staff inside DSA's organizational leadership — concurrently — for over a decade.

In 2012, RLS opened a New York office. EIN 45-3658022. Their own annual report states: "With the help of funds from the BMZ and the Foreign Office, the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung maintains a network of international relationships. This includes financing its foreign offices."

Over the last 13 years, Berlin has sent millions to this office.

Despite these ties, no FARA registration for the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung was identified in the Department of Justice database.

READ the bills BEFORE you put your name on them, or rubber-stamp YES.

I'm often asked why I speak on so many bills on the floor. The answer: BECAUSE I READ THE BILLS. I have found glaring errors, conflicts with current established state or federal law, etc. while preparing for Committee hearings and floor votes.

If not intentionally designed in error for political shenanigan purposes, often the bill's sponsor or supporters flash a "surprised face" when pointed out...yet still manage to plow us headfirst into court. That's a big problem when the problem is in YOUR BILL that YOU "wrote".

Add that to the reasons I don't appreciate getting a 300-page incomplete budget document (still missing "pork" resolutions) that allocates $50-$60 billion plus in taxpayer money—just 48 hours before a vote.

Adulting 101: Read something BEFORE you put your John Hancock on it.

🚨🧵 BREAKING - The "conservative" protest against AI data centers has an anti-ICE NGO organizer, a DSA member, Facebook money.

Other than that, totally grassroots.

Axios ran an "exclusive" Wednesday about a "conservative group" called Humans First planning a nationwide day of protest against AI data centers on July 18. Amy Kremer is chairing it and invoking the Tea Party.

Axios didn't mention that Humans First was incubated by the Center for AI Safety, an organization funded with millions from Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz. Or that its original staff included a Sunrise Movement organizer who sat in at Pelosi's office with AOC and a DSA member who organized for Kamala Harris.

NBC News described CAIS as having founded Humans First "to be a sort of Trojan horse to make AI safety issues more palatable to a conservative political audience."

Several news outlets are reporting that the AZ AG has dismissed the criminal case against me, Rudy, Trump electors and others in Arizona. Not quite accurate. She has asked the Court to dismiss without prejudice, meaning she could (and has already announced she will) seek new indictments from a new grand jury. This morning, my legal team filed a response, urging the Court to dismiss with prejudice and award attorneys fees to us, pursuant to Arizona's unique anti-SLAPP statute. The AG failed to respond to the Court's ruling that we had established "prima facie proof" that the prosecution was motivated by a desire to deter or retaliate against our exercise of First Amendment rights. That would put an end to the case for good -- so let's see how the judge rules.
