@rohindhar Just bought in Columbia, SC with a 7.125% interest rate. There was nothing anywhere *close* to comparable in the rental market that wasn’t hundreds more per month. I suspect you’ll find that across small and medium size cities in the South and Midwest.
@Emiliodjorno@CassieJHill@the_transit_guy Uptown definitely feels that way, as does Ballantyne. East Charlotte (and plenty of other areas, honestly) has a much warmer, more livable vibe.
@alexwohlbruck @the_transit_guy Yes! I say it every time I’m up that way,
which is often as I’m in the CLT
metro - reminds me of Perimeter in Atlanta, with even less soul.
@notcherylkernot@the_transit_guy @nicknak_morris That is WILD. Kmart was the place to be in my early 90s childhood and then it declined in a major way in the States. Glad to hear it lives on.
@RadioFreeTom Oh, and he *continues* with “It’s time for them to just settle down and fall in love. Guys, put a ring on it.” The cringe is just next level, even for that clown.
@rlux@painter_nancy@JewishWonk So interesting. Would the freedom or restraint you’d feel be down to the culture of the country? The nature of Jewish communities in that country? As @rlux said, I’m sure there’s nuance here and I feel like there’s something to learn.
