Happy to report Flock is down in Maitland, FL!

All cities in Seminole County and all but one in Volusia County have ended Flock cameras.

Orange County is late to the party as usual but we will get them there ✊ @therealDeFlock

@GovRonDeSantis ordered ALL automated license plate readers removed from state road rights-of-way by Sept. 30.

Instead, some sheriffs’ offices are simply MOVING them.
In Polk County, Flock cameras were moved onto private property while still scanning vehicles on a state road.
Other counties removed Flock cameras and found numerous unpermitted cameras nobody knows who owns.

The deadline is 2 days away.

@NneubsFl @therealDeFlock We only have Flock and Motorola ALRPs in our right of ways in Florida. Only one place (Pasco) tried to swap to Axon, the backlash was awful and they cancelled both.

They won’t be replacing it with anything on our watch 🫡

@DavidbSwihart @therealDeFlock Mine are covered because the manufacturer is too slow to remove. We voted them out by council vote. Everyone else needs to do the same. Temporary suspension is not enough.

@OrwellDay This is who I have for cities. We should compare notes. I’m sure this list is incomplete because it’s impossible to monitor every city. We also just added Winter Park as one who ended / suspended

@OrwellDay I love the energy but in my experience it’s easier to go after the communities who are most likely to take them down first, as that creates a domino effect and adds more pressure to the big cities, who are likely to be the holdouts most attached to their cameras.
