This comes on top of ancillary services like speech, OT and PT evaporating from schools and early intervention. Children, especially the most vulnerable children, are filling the pandemic budget gaps all over. @cabanam@SuzettePediMD@broder_md
Can we talk more about all of the systems failing children? Lack of ICU care is just the tip of the iceberg. Insurance companies are denying necessary home services, creating barriers to obtaining durable medical equipment and using formulary changes to slow access to meds
AAP CEO Mark del Monte: “You cannot value children if you do not value their doctors.” We need to change the financial model for children’s healthcare. @NYSAAPCH3@NYSAAPCH2@NY1AAP#AAPLeads
I would like to see @nytimes publish a "medical gaslighting" article focused on what insurances do to both patients and healthcare providers. That's some mega full press pinnacle of gaslighting shit there.
@imxvi@JamesMartinSJ I was also very struck by how white the figures were. When the divine presence and holy men and women in a country as diverse as the US is so whitewashed, its not surprising that our country continues to struggle with the sin of white supremacy.
@boarexpert1 @BoilerGram @GraceSkies@Brcremer Taxes aren’t loans. Its the price we pay for a free society. If you want to pay less, start fighting for hedge fund managers and billionaires to start paying their fair share
I really need folks to understand that the work teachers have done over the past 2 1/2 yrs is nothing short of extraordinary. I've seen teachers whose own lives have been upended by grief, illness, & instability continue to show up for their students in countless, remarkable ways
Riley Williams, accused of stealing Pelosi's laptop, was given permission to leave house arrest to attend a Renaissance fair.
As a public defender, I represented a teenager who wasn't given permission to leave jail to go to his dad's funeral.
Two. Systems. Of. Justice.
@No2BlandfordSt@AdigoloNorbert@SeanscSs@JamesMartinSJ Just pointing out that Jesus, by his actions, and Paul, by his words, say over and over again that the first commandment is to Love. Regardless of whether you or Ron de Santis have found profound clarity in the sinfulness of homosexuality, persecuting sinners is sinful.
@No2BlandfordSt@AdigoloNorbert@SeanscSs@JamesMartinSJ Well, I agree that you can find several (pretty sure less than 10) verses to convince yourself of its clarity. But I’d urge you to keep reading and praying because I think you might be letting yourself get suckered into using scripture to justify US conservative talking points.
@No2BlandfordSt@AdigoloNorbert@SeanscSs@JamesMartinSJ Yes, we agree on all of that. The point I was making is that you have failed to give an example of Jesus rejecting someone or turning them away for anything other than hypocrisy and misusing scripture. Anyone can cherrypick scripture for a verse to make themself feel justified
@No2BlandfordSt@AdigoloNorbert@SeanscSs@JamesMartinSJ Jesus never used his power to reject people for anything but hypocrisy and misusing scripture for their own gain. He invited sinners into his midst constantly and was put to death for it. And after his resurrection, he relied on sinners like Peter and Paul to build the church.
@No2BlandfordSt@AdigoloNorbert@SeanscSs@JamesMartinSJ Without being so bold as to speak for him, I’m pretty sure that the point Fr. Martin is making is that institutions rejecting people in the name of religion is not Christian and is sinful.
Let’s be clear: the word “woke” is just another word for Black. When people are talking about “wokeness”, they are talking about Black equality, Black dignity, and Black liberation. That is what they hate. They are anti-Black. It has always been about white supremacy and power.
