@ThisIsDaveMaher I have POTS, they’re not saying you can “fix it with your mind” but you need good mental health to improve your physical health. POTS is exacerbated by stress and anxiety, so your symptoms will be worse if you’re stressed and anxious about your physical health all the time.

@notwhoraxxx Imo the biggest issues with the comparison is it downplays medical racism by conflating it with ableism, ignores the intersection of medical racism and ableism, and entirely disregards ableism in policing. Also medical and law enforcement systems often weaponize the other anyway.

@poppy_haze Chronic illness is a magnet for pseudoscience bs because it’s so hard for people to accept that, until more research is done, all you can do is manage symptoms. I think it’s even worse for those disabled by Covid complications because of the trauma of it having been a pandemic.

They really play up post viral complications like some world ending phenomena and not just another under researched, mundane chronic illness.

Feeling a really strong hatred towards the term “Long Covid” recently. It’s an incredibly bad name that implies a continuous infection. It makes people think what they’re experiencing is new and unique, when millions of others have gone through post viral complications, like me.

The Long Covid advocacy disregards these experiences and creates a separate category that obfuscates the issue of post viral complications.
