Books are my go-to distraction when submerged in ice baths for a testicle-punishing 10 to 15 minutes.
One night, the flavor du jour was The Inner Game of Tennis by W. Timothy Gallwey. One passage stopped me in my tracks a few pages in:
"The player of the inner game comes to value the art of relaxed concentration above all other skills; he discovers the true basis for self-confidence; and he learns that the secret to winning any game lies in not trying too hard."
The secret to winning any game lies in not trying too hard.
Feeling as though you are trying too hard indicates that your priorities, technique, focus, or mindfulness is off.
Take it as a cue to reset, not to double down.

Mari “get the idea out of your head that the flick is a winner”

The attack is a setup shot to cause an error which you turn into the winner. It is the first step in a combination of shots with the thought of the second shot being the put away.
This is a great Video of Mari teaching her Flick Shots. She describes this as using her wrist more than her shoulder to rotate the paddle.

Mari Humberg "The intention of an attack is to setup for a second...almost every single attack is a setup for the next one" “As you get to a higher level you can not expect your attacks to ever be a winner"

Side by side comparison Ed and Mari of Notice how abbreviated his swing is. I’ve found success with short compact swings and suggest trying them.
I think people are actually getting the rotation of the paddle from the rotation of their forearm and or shoulder because the wrist is not used in this part of the motion.
@garyvee@0xjoshua@veefriends@beeple One of my theories is you only want to provide value over a longer timeframe if VeeFriends is successful. Whatever the reason most don't feel like they are getting what they thought you were going to deliver.
@garyvee@0xjoshua@veefriends@beeple Right now most goats are disappointed. I've seen 1 goat say they are ok with the gift. IF he is a collected artist, where do you think an empty bottle collaboration with VeeFriends ranks?
@0xjoshua@veefriends@beeple@garyvee Looks like it is disappointing to most if not all of the Goats. I gather he didn't and couldn't dictate what Beeple would give us, but he is still responsible for not delivering.
