"I don't know why we're doing this, Lauren."
"Because the Ice Stars [the documentary about children ice skaters, of which a trailer had appeared] did it earlier. Smile!"
"Yeh but we're not ice stars, Lauren. We're just -"
"What?"
"...we're just normal men."
@hundsnus Thx 4 the reposts, etc. since I started.
The arbitrariness and the fact that it's obvs not humans making these decisions is frustrating. There's lots of other things I could spend my spare time doing that robots can't arbitrarily take away from me for no reason. (Well, not yet)
We're just a suspended, deceptive account, apparently.
We're just annoyed men.
I bought X Premium this month, thinking I'd see if I could build this account up enough to justify continuing to pay. I asked Grok what I should do to increase engagement, and followed the advice I got. By Dec 14 I went from 162 followers to 175 (omg i am an influencer now), then X suspended my account with no reason given for the suspension.
The robot attending to my suspension appeal decided that the reason they suspended my account is because it is "inauthentic", and people would think I was impersonating "we're just normal men", whatever that even means. The robot reactivated my account when it perceived that I had agreed to (1) change my username to make it clear that I am not "we're just normal men", whatever that even means; (2) do the same thing to my bio; and (3) add a "Parody" tag to my account.
I didn't agree to do those things. I read the policy it cited and I can't see how this account could be in breach. But when the account was unsuspended X forced me to change my username and bio.
None of you could reasonably have thought that I was affiliated with the BBC, or that I was impersonating "We're just normal men", which is not a person or thing I could be impersonating in the first place.
Frustrating experience, particularly since I had paid to use this platform this month, I wasn't doing anything "inauthentic", and was following Grok's advice to build engagement.
Doesn't make me feel like continuing to waste time on this platform... I might be back, but it's probably better not to spend my spare time on platforms ruled by inflexible robots that can arbitrarily wipe out your account anytime and for no particular reason, which describes pretty much all social media platforms, including X. I quit all the rest years ago, maybe it's time to quit this one too.
Needless to say, I won't be paying for a blue checkmark again anytime soon. Maybe I'll be back, maybe I won't. Hopefully not.
We'll be playing From H to Q a little later on, if you want to play From H to Q email [email protected].
Retweet if you want to play "From H to Q" a little later on. Do get permission and leave your phone number or, by jingo, it'll be worse than this if you don't.
My milkshake brings normal, innocent men to the yard
And they're like it's better than yours
Damn right, it's better than yours
I could teach you, but I'd have to charge
