On November 4th, I hosted my first-ever fitness competition - The WeStrive Games - here in Austin, TX 💪
The events were:
1 - The Shipping Container Pull 🚚
2 - Keg Relay Race 🏃♂️
3- 50 lbs Sandbag Medley💼
4 - Tug of War Tournament 🤼
5 - Stein Holding Competition 🍺
We're expanding in 2024 and it's open for anyone to participate 👀
I competed myself and had an absolute blast
Current cities we're looking at are Seattle, Los Angeles, Denver, Houston, Dallas, and then Austin again
Hope to see y'all at the next one
@WeStriveApp to the moon 🔥🚀
Last night @thegarrettscott and I had the launch party for our podcast studio inside of Blue Norther Tasting Room while also celebrating @CapitalFactory Startup Week
250+ came through and @michaelwmarra@mattadoyle setup “Street Tank” giving away cash to startup pitches
So — I did it
After hosting 20 big tech events over the past few years - I finally hosted my first fitness event - and it went SO WELL
Couldn’t be happier with the turnout and the support from my amazing friends
I got a quote from one of the gyms that participated saying it was an incredibly nice change of pace from the typical strongman/CrossFit type of events
For The WeStrive Games, instead of doing 100’s of squats, the row machine, barbell exercises, etc. —> we put wheels on 2 massive shipping containers and pulled them side by side. We then did a keg relay, a sandbag sprint, tug of war, and a stein hold
The finale had 12 teams choose 1 athlete to try to hold the stein as long as they could in front of 400+ people. It was so intense that the entire audience at the brewery rushed the stage. We had the 2 finalists hold it for more than TEN MINUTES. It was absolutely insane.
There were some little things that went wrong but overall it was a huge success. I had a drone guy, videographer, and photographer the whole time.
I’ll use this content to make landing pages, flyers, etc. and hopefully land some big fitness sponsors to help me expand into other cities.
The WeStrive Games is officially an annual event in Austin and I can’t wait for the next one in the spring in (🤫 Seattle) 🔥🔥🔥
Officially have our first podcasters recording at the new Just Push Record studio
3 cameras, 4 mics, all automated
We’re based just a few minutes from downtown ATX 💪
@thegarrettscott & I are happy to offer discounts for Twitter friends 👀
We bought a new audio system and table for our podcast studio
The table was falling apart and the audio mixer (that was supposed to work 🙄) ended up being the biggest pain in our ass
Anyway, Here's 3 minutes of @thegarrettscott and I breaking things
Sponsored by @squarespace
Pumped to have the 🐐 @asmartbear on the podcast tomorrow
For a guy that's founded not one, but TWO unicorns, how am I supposed to squeeze in all my questions in an hour? lol
