It's not necessary to believe in a specific instance of US voter fraud or system corruption to realize that the current system falls far short of the standard one required of any professional database. Essentially there should be an indexed table of voters with primary keys and a transaction log of their votes related by foreign key to elections. The fact that this is so hard to implement suggests there is great pressure not to make it secure.

Creating a technically secure voting system is not the hard part. Wanting one is.
