German autism makes them natural extremists. Whatever 'the thing' is in any given historical era - Protestant Christianity, imperialism, nationalism, national socialism, environmentalism, multiculturalism - they always conclude that if a thing is good, they must goodthingmax until the blood flows. Deep in the German volkgeist is an urge to turn every ideology into a war crime.
#eu

"If Russian inflation were indeed running at 15 per cent, the effect on the rouble’s real exchange rate would be dramatic. A nominally stable currency with double-digit inflation implies a sharply appreciating real exchange rate – which, in turn, should be pulling in imports. In fact, the opposite is happening. And if you don’t trust Russian figures, try Chinese ones: Beijing is Moscow’s largest trading partner; Chinese exports to Russia have been slowing for over a year, reflecting a decelerating Russian economy, not one consuming imports at speed...
The $30 billion figure likely derives from Russia’s genuinely alarming fiscal performance in January and February, when front-loaded military spending collided with weak oil revenues to produce a deficit of 3.5 trillion roubles (£34.6 billion) – uncomfortably close to the entire planned annual shortfall of 3.8 trillion roubles (£37.5 billion). The Kremlin was rattled; a revenue review was mooted; spending cuts were discussed.
Then the US and Israel attacked Iran. Russian Urals crude oil, which had been trading at $44.6 (£33) a barrel, is now above $100 (£74). Every additional $10 (£7.40) per barrel adds roughly $1.6 billion (£1.2 billion) a month to federal revenues. Analysts expect oil to average at around $90 (£66.60) per barrel this year; the Russian budget was built on $59 (£44). At that price, the arithmetic runs heavily in Moscow’s favour. The Kremlin’s revenue review has been quietly shelved. The spending cuts are no longer mentioned."

Drought and the fallout from the US-Israeli war on Iran have pushed Somalia deeper into a humanitarian crisis. The UN warns that 6.5 million people are now facing severe hunger.
Al Jazeera's @cate_soi speaks to those affected in the city of Kismayo.
Given that the US twice attacked Iran while claiming to be negotiating, we can never rule out that the US and Israel resume the war against Iran, even if talks are scheduled. This is what happened in June 2025 and Feb 2026.
Amazon just got caught running a secret price manipulation operation with Levi's, Home Depot, Walmart, and many more.
Every time you "comparison shopped" online, you were looking at prices that were already rigged.
Here's what happened:
Amazon would monitor prices on Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Chewy in real time. The second a competitor listed a product cheaper than Amazon, they'd contact the brand directly and tell them to "fix it."
And the exact emails are now PUBLIC.
Amazon sent Levi's links to two Walmart listings with the subject line "styles of concern." They basically said the prices on Walmart are too low and we have a problem.
The next day, Levi's responded: "I talked to Walmart and they have partnered with us to take Easy Khaki Classic fit back up to ladder SPP price, $29.99 immediately."
Levi's literally called Walmart and told them to raise the price. Because Amazon told Levi's to make the call.
Walmart complied. Then Amazon matched the HIGHER price.
Both retailers ended up charging more. The customer paid extra. Nobody competed.
Same playbook with Hanes:
Amazon sent them links showing Target and Walmart prices were lower. Hanes confirmed they "reached out to Target and Walmart to have the prices increased."
Target increased the prices. Walmart increased the prices. Amazon kept their margins.
But it gets even worse...
Amazon told Allergan (the company that makes eye drops) that their product was "suppressed" on Amazon because it was cheaper on another site.
Allergan responded: "Walmart got their price back up to $16.99." Amazon then unsuppressed the listing.
They did this with pet treats on Chewy. Furniture on Home Depot. Products across dozens of categories spanning YEARS.
The mechanism is simple but terrifying:
If you're a brand and you sell cheaper on Walmart than on Amazon, Amazon suppresses your product, removes you from the Buy Box, buries you in search results, and effectively makes you invisible to 300 million customers.
Brands can't afford that. So they call Walmart and Target and say "raise your prices or we'll lose our Amazon listings."
Walmart and Target comply because they need the brand's products.
Amazon captures 40 cents of every dollar spent online in America. That gives them the leverage to set prices across THE ENTIRE internet. Not just their own platform.
So turns out, you were never comparison shopping.
You were looking at a coordinated price floor set by Amazon through backroom phone calls between brands and their competitors.
"Amazon is working to make your life more unaffordable."
3 separate antitrust trials are now scheduled for 2027. The FTC has its own case. 18 states plus the DOJ are piling on.
This is literally happening during the WORST affordability crisis in a generation. Groceries up 25% since 2020. Housing unaffordable. Wages flat.
And the largest ecommerce company on Earth has been secretly coordinating with brands to make sure you can't find a cheaper price ANYWHERE.
"Competition" in retail is just a fantasy.
It does feel like if a group of Palestinians with machine guns broke into an Israeli school and shot a bunch of children, it would be breaking news in every outlet on earth…?
“For Israelis who’ve been accused of committing it, it’s hurtful to them.”

Crazy this isn't being talked about more: a humanoid robot in China just beat the human half-marathon world record by several minutes.
The robot, built by Honor, completed the 21km race in 50:26 in Beijing today, which is **almost 7 minutes** faster than Jacob Kiplimo's 57 minutes and 20 seconds human world record set in Lisbon last month (https://t.co/XjLXMQCFqe).
Even more insane is the rate of improvement: the same humanoid semi-marathon race was organized last year and the winning robot back then finished the race in 2 hours 40 minutes (https://t.co/F1tlcOL9qu). Meaning they went from 2:40:00 to 0:50:26 in just twelve months 🤯
A repeating pattern in war propaganda throughout the Russo-Ukrainian conflict is members of intel community claiming with no evidence at all that the Kremlin has a deadline for the Russian troops to capture this or that city/territory. That deadline is always decidedly unattainable which allows infowar networks to claim that “Russia has failed” when it arrives.
Same applies to the latest claim that Russia wants to seize the rest of Donbas by the September. The siege of Pokrovsk/Myrnohrad easily demonstrates how unlikely that is.
What’s important here is that the Russians consistently end up seizing the cities they besiege, if later than those imaginary deadline. Inevitability is there. But occupying more territory is not the end in itself for the Kremlin. It is a tool of coercion into accepting its geopolitical goals.
The Kremlin finetunes the pace of the occupation by keeping the size of occupation force at the level it deems necessary, carefully shielding a vast majority of Russians from the impact of war.
But the capture of Sloviansk or Kramatorsk is low on its list of its real priorities. Kyiv would have retained these cities and much more territory under its control had it signed Istanbul agreements four years ago. The main goal is no Western military presence in any shape or form as well as Ukraine’s genuine neutrality. That’s what Putin is not going to compromise on, not in current circumstances anyway.
Destroying the @InternetArchive's @WayBackMachine would be the equivalent of the burning of the Library of Alexandria - one of the worst losses of knowledge in history.
Media giants are now threatening to do this.
We can't let this happen.
Pass it on.
„The conventional thinking is that great products sell themselves; if you have great product, it will inevitably reach consumers. But nothing is further from the truth.“ Distribution und Verkaufsstrategie ist entscheidend.
Ich bin mir relativ sicher, Herr Hecker weiß das und genau deswegen gibt es diese PR-Kampagne.
