The Munich Patent Court is facing major changes.
Tobias Pichlmaier, presiding patent judge at the Regional Court Munich, will take over an antitrust chamber. This will entail further staff changes in the 21st and 44th #Patent Chambers.

German Federal Patent Court sees pragmatic solution for listing AI as an inventor in the Dabus case. The listed inventor must be a natural person, but the AI system behind the invention may also be added.

One more member state must sign the #UPC protocol before prep can begin. But, in the 4 years that complaints to the German Constitutional Court blocked its launch, too many other governments relied on the UPC never getting off the ground.

The Preparatory Committee foresees that approximately eight months will be required for the final preparation. Currently Alexander Ramsay, chair of the Preparatory Committee, estimates that the UPC will start operations around mid-2022. (4/5)
