A retired weary, internationally experienced businessman in the technology and services space who is cynical of life, people and political regimes in particular
@triffic_stuff_ Too naรฏve: The most competent for the job should win... and then there are politics with its prejudices,. biases, agendas, favours, etc.
How about 'blind' selection. Voices disguised, no face to face so on-line only. Individual anonymous manifestos published well before voting.
@pizzie12 Apart from financially paying through earnings contribution the only why to accrue 'contributions should maternity & childcare capped to 18 yrs/child to a max 3 children. Universal Benefit to not be upped or to include any eligibility for State Pension.
@FlowersEnglish I understood that the Spanish were inhospitable, shut & locked shops & doors, prevented access to ferry services without the correct documents. So, with dirty clothes, saltwater itches & empty stomachs most up & left back into Morocco. They got the message!
UK welcomes illegals.
@Lord_Talbot64 Whilst Burnham & his pals talk the talk to big up Labour in readiness for an early GE the rest of us have to make do, tighten belt & pay, pay, pay more than 50% of our gross incomes in some form of taxation or other.
Centrally managed economies fail; ref. Comecon
@FlowersEnglish A GE before the Oct 28 Budget. Burnham wants to makes all the popularist promises, be everything to everybody, catch the warm glow for a snap GE before having to actually deliver [or fail to].
Cynical politics at its most notorious.
@Jo_WhiteheadUK Let's be realistic all Labour govt will tax you more and also take away your home/force you to sell. Labour takes with both hands from those who contribute & show extraordinary largesse to those who do not/won't pay UK taxes & contribute - at home & overseas..
@BBCBreakfast Where else does the central government funding provided to the local govts come from? We cannot assume that this is addnl funding, better to expect it to be replacement funding... Better for the tax paying & contributing residents too.
@BBCr4today Burnham kicking the can down the road. Assesses that there are more votes in an early GE to be had by not supporting this bill; even allowing it to pass.
How much water would be available is the water companies actually did their job and stopped, say, at least only 2/3 of the water being lost to leaks, sold out of area to non-residents, delays to act, negligence?
Reckon no hosepipe bans would be necessary.
@Jenny_1884 Drought, what drought? The drought only applies to nature & domestic users. Businesses, farmers, govt users are unrestricted in the use of water. Water Companies are also allowed & unrestricted in selling the regions water to others.
@KemiBadenoch The EU countries complain about the 'draw factor' of the UK. They say that the UK needs to stop being for ยฃยฃ attractive. They are in the ECHR too. Why doesn't successive UK govts act on that advice and stop all support of these illegal entrants?
