USM Bio. #rstats, stats pedagogy & best practices. Was a physiologist/modeler. Running ME/NH/VT mountains is my happy place because I don't live in Scotland
New post to Data From focusing on replicated experiments, which are rarely analyzed with best practice models #BenchBiology#CellBiology#rstats https://t.co/LS6f3xtPuw
New post to Data From...Bench Biology - more on why bench biologists should use GLM offset models for percent data instead of t-tests. #rstats#CellBiology https://t.co/LS6f3xthEY
New post to Data From...Bench Bio. highlights: why we shouldn't adjust for multiple tests and error bars implying negative mean counts! #rstats https://t.co/ceUhOtcP4k
Finally starting to move this long term project re-analyzing data from the experimental bench biology literature to a public space #rstats https://t.co/LS6f3xthEY
@stevemagness Chariots of Fire is all about the pursuit of excellence but where are the women above? King Richard and Lessons in Chemistry are the very models of a modern major pursuit of excellence.
1/ Exercise physiology has some horrendous examples of language that is begging for introducing misconceptions in students and athletes. "fast glycolysis" and "slow glycolysis", "anaerobic glycolysis" and "aerobic glycolysis", and my favorite "anaerobic respiration".
7/ "Anaerobic respiration" -- WTF? Respiration means breathing (which we now understand as gas exchange) not ATP synthesis. Cellular respiration uses "respiration" not because ATP is made but because the cell is exchanging O2/CO2 across the plasma (and mitochondrial) membranes!
