Absorbed in Koha ERM presentation at #KohaCon22 and excited to see a wiki to provide lots of stellar information about this project: https://t.co/9ond68mZv8 #oss#kohails
a BIG thank you to #KohaCon22 local hosts George Williams @gwilliams67 and Robin Hastings @webgoddess for excellent planning, great recommendations, and interesting conversations. #oss#kohails#community
Enjoying an afternoon at #kohacon22 as Sher Afzal Khan discusses implementation of Koha for Pakistan Army HQ Central Library with a great list of needs when considering a new IMLS. #OSS
More of an ask to join us than a question but Q5: Want to know more? To follow the development of the project, please send a request to https://t.co/yXzmEqKSBv.. #ChatOpenS
@andreabneiman Fair assessment. (no screaming today but #catalogers everywhere are paying attention). There are better-know RDA elements that have been widely adopted outside of full RDA implementation but I believe it is a short list #ChatOpenS
Q3: Mix AACR, AACR2 and RDA records -- oh, you mean the old fashioned way? I think libraries are making the hybrid world work; #ORC would potentially simplify the mashup by giving examples on how to streamline the competing noise. #ChatOpenS
Q2: about complexity, I believe #ORC will strive to remove unnecessary complexity of description by asking "What are the basic elements needed to identify an object?" #cataloging#ChatOpenS
Q2: The biggest obstacle is always the new-ness of a thing; ORC will require strong preliminary adoption and promotion to encourage adoption #opensource#cataloging#ChatOpenS
(Q1) I love the intention to include examples with the code! Expectations would be: ILS-agnostic application with no financial requirement to access and robust community support #ChatOpenS
The library community needs an openly available practical alternative, with concrete guidelines and models for describing library resources so that catalogers can efficiently accomplish their work. #ChatOpenS
