This analogy illustrates our new paper on anomaly detection (https://t.co/BtNK7M1Yss) using #autoencoders. Imagine you're walking through a vast forest searching for a specific bush, guided only by its photo. Navigating through the trees is challenging, similar to what the #LHC / #CERN does when unsuccessfully searching for physics beyond the #StandardModel. Now, imagine you cut down all the trees ("Standard Model"), to see what stands out above the stumps. You might discover a variety of unusual bushes that you couldn't have anticipated.
