@TheAliceSmith I read the Declaration of Independence out loud today with heartfelt conviction.
It is a work not just of genius, but also of a purity of soul that resonates to this very day.
Douglas Murray on how Keir Starmer will be remembered
"If he's remembered at all it will be for him deciding that instead of dealing with bad things in the country, he would instead arrest the people who didn't like the bad things that were happening in the country"
Nithya Raman can’t, or won’t, explain socialism | California Post Editorial Board
Nithya Raman can’t explain why she’s a socialist, or even what a socialist is.
When CNN’s Elex Michaelson asked her what the difference was between a Democrat and a “democratic socialist,” her only answer was to claim that socialists care more about renters.
Really? And here we thought socialism was about ownership — the ownership of the means of production.
Raman’s dodge is typical. Socialists always want to hide what they truly believe, because the American people would reject it — or laugh at it.
Lately, socialists have been on a “hearts and minds” campaign to soften their image.
Zohran Mamdani isn’t an angry rabble-rouser getting arrested for protesting against Israel. No — he’s the guy who always smiles, who jumps into the swimming pool wearing a suit.
Seizing people’s wealth isn’t what socialists want to do — if you ignore that billionaire tax. No, no — socialism is just public roads, and public schools and public parks — anything public.
And Nithya Raman isn’t a socialist who appeared with Hamas-supporting radical Hasan Piker — no, she just wants to make sure that the streetlights stay on and the homeless are housed.
Socialists have also been on a campaign to claim that everything they do is successful — that after just six months in office, Mamdani has turned New York around. Never mind the homeless dying on the streets in winter, or the investors rushing for the exits. Everything is wonderful!
Then again, the Soviet Union also had Pravda, and Western admirers of communism willing to overlook even the most ghastly crimes. Socialism cannot abide truth, or dissent.
Raman also told Michaelson that she wants to get past “pay-to-play” politics. As if socialists had invented a better kind of politician; as if socialism had done away with greed.
Raman’s description of socialism was so empty that at one point in the CNN interview, Michaelson asked her if she considered herself a capitalist. She dodged that one, too.
She was right about one thing: “Angelenos are ready for something new,” she said.
After four years of mismanagement by Karen Bass, that’s true. But socialism isn’t “new.”
Socialism is one of the oldest ideas in the world. It has never worked, except in a few circumstances — like the Israeli collective farms, the kibbutzim. (The US socialists hate Israel, though, so don’t tell them that.)
Socialism combines high-minded sentiments with heavy-handed repression.
Nithya Raman chose the “socialist” label. She should wear it.

Liberal woman on America’s 250th Birthday:
“Can someone explain to me how America is celebrating 250 years and it’s 2026? How? Y’all just lie about everything.”
⚽️ Did you enjoy watching the USA beat Bosnia and Herzegovina yesterday in the World Cup Soccer match?
Well you may enjoy it even more after seeing how Bosnia and Herzegovina refused to shake hands with the Israeli team after losing 3-0.
What an appalling speech the Mayor of New York delivered for the 250th anniversary of the nation.
Sadly, it reflects the view of America propagated for years by Howard Zinn and his like-minded colleagues in the universities and believed by armies of the young: a dark, oppressive country where common people are denigrated by tyrants and oligarchs, where immigrants are treated with contempt, where those with “soft hands” hold the wealth created by those with dirty hands.
No sensible person would claim that our country is without flaws, but the relentlessly negative picture painted by Mayor Mamdani is just absurd.
And it is the fruit of the Marxism that, sadly, is all the rage today.
To the Americans:
I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States.
And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness:
You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence.
This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns.
Success is equated with exploitation.
Ambition is looked upon with contempt.
This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom.
But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated.
This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet.
And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America:
Thank God for the United States.
Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man.
Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners.
Long may your admirable country dominate the world.
Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states.
May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning.
Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill.
Thank God for the USA.
Happy 250th.
Dr. Jordan B. Peterson
I was never taught America is great because it’s richer/bigger. I heard about the light bulb, airplanes, movies, the telephone, rock, jazz, basketball, the Internet, nuclear power, Ali-Frazier, Thoreau, King, Lincoln, Twain, Chandler, the Hoover Dam and the Fender Stratocaster…
That's the fundamental truth about Marxism. Marx was a taker. He never made anything and all Marxists are takers. That's the point of Marxism. It's all about envy not about gratitude or contribution. As AOC herself said, "We figured out production. Now it's just about distribution."
"All Marxists are stupid, evil, or both."

SPORTSBALL: Emmanuel Acho says WNBA would be better off without Caitlin Clark explaining, "Caitlin got the necessary eyes there. But now that the eyes are there, we don't necessarily need her anymore." This is exactly the sentiment of the majority of black and lesbian players.
I'll never understand what these people are comparing to. Capitalism isn't perfect, mostly because it allows for corporatism. Socialism never works. It always brings misery and death. Certainly a system, though imperfect and flawed, is preferable to one which routinely causes massive harm.
