Hello everyone! This is Sandra Brunson, @jalenbrunson1’s mom. Usually, I send my son a text message before every game.
But tonight he gets his championship ring!
So I wrote him this letter. https://t.co/DuocjjVpDI
My last comment on this whole business (which I hadn’t realised was a lightning rod for an entire culture war) - if you like Nolan’s other films, you will love The Odyssey. If you didn’t like them, then miss it.
Mayor Mamdani’s water board is raising water rates 6% this year
Property taxes have doubled in the last 5 years
Insurance has skyrocketed, Mamdani himself has acknowledged this.
And yet he came to the conclusion a 0% increase for 2 years will somehow help our housing crisis.
Councilmember Jennifer Gutiérrez has spent her career fighting for working families, immigrant communities, tenants, caregivers, and parents across New York City.
As an organizer and daughter of immigrants, Jennifer understands what it means to build power from the ground up and deliver for communities too often left behind.
Here’s what she shared in support of our campaign:
“Steven Raga has spent his career standing with working families and communities that too often have to fight the hardest to be heard. From his years as a community organizer to his service in the Assembly, Steven has led with a deep commitment to delivering for Western Queens. He is and will continue to be a strong progressive partner in the State Senate in the fight for affordable housing, immigrant justice, and a New York where every family can thrive. I know he will deliver real results for my constituents in Ridgewood and across Queens. I am proud to endorse Steven Raga for New York State Senate.”
I’m honored to have Councilmember Jennifer Gutiérrez’s endorsement and proud to stand alongside a leader fighting every day for working families, universal childcare, immigrant justice, and a more affordable New York.
Yesterday, on Father’s Day, I cast my vote in honor of my father, Andres, and every immigrant family whose love and labor built the communities we call home.
I was proud to be joined by neighbors, workers, immigrant families, and loved ones in a moment bigger than any one campaign: for every father who provided, every mother who carried both roles, every family that built a life here, and every child who deserves a future rooted in dignity.
Tomorrow, on Election Day, we carry that purpose forward and continue the fight for a New York where healthcare is a human right, working families can afford to stay, and every community has the power to shape its own future.
@RefrmDemocracy Steven has a long legislative history of being a pro-housing progressive. Aber seems good too but I have greater faith in Raga to actually get stuff done
La Luchadora knows what it means to fight for communities that have had to demand what they deserve.
Congressmember Velázquez spent her career taking on power and standing with working families, immigrants, tenants, small businesses, and neighborhoods too often ignored.
She made history as the first Puerto Rican woman elected to Congress and the first Latina to chair a full Congressional committee, but she has never lost sight of the people and communities at the heart of this work.
I’m proud to have La Luchadora in this fight with us.
"Steven Raga has proven himself to be a thoughtful, effective leader who understands the needs of working families and immigrant communities. He has delivered results in Albany, built strong relationships throughout Queens, and has the experience and vision needed to represent Senate District 12. I am proud to endorse Steven Raga and encourage voters to support his campaign."
Thank you, Congresswoman Velázquez, for your trust, your leadership, and your decades of fighting for our communities!
