@Needle_of_Arya@mcohen2@reesetheone1 This! It’s why even heavily democratic leaning states ended up being a lot closer in 2024. Inflation was another but immigration / border enforcement being a major issue. We saw states like New Jersey have the closest margins in a general election in some decades.
@CyrusVinci87033@dilanesper Or have them play in their own league or category. I agree that radical trans activists caused this backlash. It started when they went away from basic respect and non discrimination in areas like employment to participation in women’s sports or allowing young kids to be trans.
@DerekPederson3@mangrove_t But the Iraq war and post war failures led to a number of events that later affected the region. Including aligning Iraq’s political sphere more with Iran, and the rise of Al Qaeda in Iraq which later became ISIS. The Arab Spring was the result of people in those countries.
@JJM352588@Red_Roscoe Or if the republican is an old school moderate or liberal style republican that used to be a big part of the party. Fiscally responsible, supports certain government programs and initiatives, socially moderate or liberal. That’s what Charlie Baker was or Phil Scott.
@kaliphear@JJM352588 The reason why democrats poll numbers on immigration have been so bad because the Biden administration approach catering to crazy immigration activists and going away from the Clinton era and Obama era moderate immigration approach created problems and pissed people off.
@kaliphear@JJM352588 That isn’t an issue for most voters because most voters back serious immigration enforcement even if they don’t like some of the current stuff the Trump administration has done.
@_Levi_3@bdquinn This is a late response but Obama said he wasn’t anti war he was just against George W Bush’s decision to invade Iraq. Literally said I’m not against all wars just dumb ones. Obama was a pragmatist and a moderate liberal.
@chris_komatsu@bdquinn This is a late response but it’s not true. He didn’t run on hating everything George W Bush did. He just disagreed with his decision to invade Iraq and that it took attention from Afghanistan and Bin Laden. He also disagreed with his tax plan design.
@musa_noir Obama was always a moderate liberal. Like literally look at his record in Illinois politics and his record in the US senate. His positions were anywhere from moderate to liberal mainstream. Folks on the far left and right acted like Obama was more left basically due to his race.
@davehvol@bdquinn Those aren’t socialists programs. They are basically liberal or social democratic programs and initiatives. The far left wants to claim popular common sense stuff while ignoring their unpopular crazy stuff like no borders, abolishing police and prisons, abolishing free enterprise
@benward1238032@bdquinn He didn’t run as some progressive or uber progressive. I don’t know why you far lefties keep lying about this when we literally remember that time, remember his speeches, his book about his beliefs, and his policies he outlined. He literally was a moderate liberal democrat.
@NobletReturns@ArielGonzalez_1@trouble_man90 lol! At that’s why you guys always lose and will never gain majority support. People want law enforcement but they want ethical and proper law enforcement. If you want anarchy like no police or prisons then the vast majority will not back you.
@betsy2dre@blewis823 It’s also weird and funny because many of these same far left folks hate and I mean hate Obama. They hate and lie about him about as much as the far right Obama derangement folks. You can find them even saying slick stuff about his wife and daughters. Now they need him lol.
@shibadad8@ChiefTeef8 Obama ran a moderate liberal platform not a very progressive one. The far left likes to either lie about this or exaggerate but we remember that period. Obama’s policies proposals, his record, and even his book laid out a moderate liberal pragmatic platform.
@MinorityOfOne75@JJM352588 I agree that popularity shouldn’t be measured the same way these days as it was in past years. But I do believe we have to acknowledge that both Trump and Biden became very unpopular for specific reasons.
@Magababe4u@Facts0601 lol! Obama didn’t invite Muslims into the party. You guys blame Obama for almost everything. Talk about Obama derangement syndrome.
@PocusKrokus@bklnfin3st@trouble_man90 Centrists and liberals have won far more elections than the far left. And that is a fact. We literally see folks like those senate candidates on track for decisive victories. Biden beat Trump in 2020, Hillary narrowly lost but won the popular vote, and Obama won big in 08 and 12.
@themanflo@ChrisCadence Do you guys ever get tired of bringing up Obama as some kind of comparison. Also, Rev. Wright said some problematic things but he mainly complained about the historical treatment of black people in America. He also served in the military. Not exactly the same as Piker.
@kozzmoknight@yemisi The next Obama? lol! She is nothing like Obama. Obama literally had legislative accomplishments during his time in state politics and as a US senator. He was a civil rights lawyer, law professor, and he was a mainstream moderate liberal. Also, Obama was a charismatic talent.
@JJM352588@ArmandoNDK Honestly she shouldn’t even run for the senate. The last thing we need is more idiotic do nothing politicians who care more about likes and views. AOC literally has not successfully co-sponsored or sponsored one piece of legislation that has passed congress.
