In 1993 Syrian International Equestrian Championship in Latakia, Adnan Kassar showed a far better result than son of then president Hafez Assad (and Bashar's older brother) Bassel Assad. Next week, Adnan was arrested and spent close to 21 years in different Syrian prisons where he was regularly tortured. He was released only in 2014.
