Picture of the Sun I took on #ARRLFD shortly after Field Day ended.
More info on the Sun's effect on ham radio activity can be found at https://t.co/NTm46br4yZ and https://t.co/JfAN6aUba8 and https://t.co/NSTEMOYOnJ

Wrapped up #ARRLFD 2026. 110 QSOs on 80m, 40m, 20m, and 10m running QRP (5W) on an FT-818 with an EFHW antenna. Powered by solar-charged batteries. FT8 & FT4 only. 73 🔆📻
My humble setup for #ARRLFD . I'm indoors to beat the heat and humidity, but my radio station is all emergency/battery power. Even the external monitor is using a portable power station (recharged with solar).
Hi @arrl, could you help clarify a point of confusion for Field Day? Does the Social Media bonus for #ARRLFD only apply to groups (and not individuals)? Thanks.
I just learned about the Social Media bonus for #ARRLFD with only a few hours left to go. I'm running a digital-only station using WSJT-X for FT8 and FT4. My radio is a Yaesu FT-818 running 5W. So far, I have 87 QSOs, with a target of 100. My antenna is an MFJ-1982LP 80-10m EFHW.
Heading to the islands for the holidays! ⛵️ Operating K4DMN from St. George Island (NA-085) Dec 23–Jan 1 — mostly FT8 on 80–10 m. Might hop over to Dog or St. Vincent by sailboat. QSL on LoTW, ClubLog, QRZ.
I just wrapped up my participation in the @arrl International Digital Contest. I operated 5 watts QRP and made 46 QSOs on FT8/FT4 in challenging band conditions. Score of 197. That'll be my baseline for next year. See you then!
@KC5JKN Chameleon MPAS 2.0 with the 17 foot whip will do 160-6m with a tuner. It’s a very simple and portable set up. I’ve used it with most of my POTA activations. One of my favorite antenna systems. Works great with FT8.
Winlink is proprietary software that runs on Windows.
You can not activate a username and password without the internet and their server running.
I have tried to gain a username and password with the Linux client running on my PC but failed.
The closed source proprietary nonsense puts one group in control of the project. Unacceptable.
Open Source Winlink or it is garbage.
Surprise! I got onto JS8Call at midnight in GA to see if anything was going on with Winter Field Day. 40m was hoppin'! Lots of exchanges. I logged a few. Go digital!
@winterfieldday Perhaps. I've only used Fldigi with acoustic coupling on local ARES nets (using MT63-2KL and ICS-213 form reports). Can you say more about requirements, op mode, form type, etc.?
@winterfieldday I'll be in a tent or pop-up camper using battery power for all electrical gear, radios, computers, and lighting; charging via solar. Heating with propane.
@arrl There's a misprint on the contest calendar page of the website. The January VHF dates should be 18-20. (I think the June dates were used instead.)
BREAKING: Winlink 📧 has requested that all non-essential traffic on the Winlink system be suspended, including tests, weekly nets, etc., until after Hurricane Milton. They are still experiencing high volumes of traffic from Helene, so please keep the gateways open. #HamRadio
