I’ve been focusing on improving my RX recently. My radio is the 891. I use the https://t.co/oxn7xV9tee 3-bnc model to send the signal to an RSPDx-R2. Today I added in a Nooelec LaNA HF and MFJ-762 before the SDR. Signals I couldn’t hear are now intelligible. Loving this.
I set up one of those 17’ stainless steel verticals on a Radioactive Antennas Mr Big Stick and made a contact on my second call with 5W to @w1aw/9. It seems to work pretty well.
@BusfaceontheAir Oh I’m not concerned about the whips. I’m trying to reuse the ground spike to put the base on. At 1/2” one or two washers will easily make up the extra 1/8”. Thanks!
@BusfaceontheAir I’m looking at the Mr Big Stick 2.0 and wondering what the thread length is. I have a 3/8-24 female mount so I’m hoping an adapter like this that is 5/8” long will work. https://t.co/d5N2KwB0wF
I put a mirror mount antenna on my tadpole trike. I noticed I would ride into areas by the lake with little to no coverage. But who am I kidding? I didn’t need an excuse to do this.
It’s been a while since I tried this, but I can’t seem to send a text message with @aprsfi anymore. What could be causing the error? I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and deleted all the saved stations to try to start from scratch, but nothing seems to work. 🤔
I picked this trike up yesterday. I put a couple miles on it his morning, and so far it’s really fun. Now to get a small station installed on it. An adapter for the bike rack to an NMO and a Signal Stalk might work well.
I do enjoy the KG-S radios at @BuyTwoWayRadios. They recently announced an air band variant: https://t.co/8sXBLkrJH1. I just wish they’d sell an amateur variant so I can reuse all those batteries and chargers.
@kc8owl@KE5DXX I like this idea. I think it would have to be wired differently than I did here with a slight change to the 3D print to space out the connectors, but it should work.
My first version of a BNC dipole is complete. I’m not sure how or to what I want to connect it so I focused on connectivity and solid construction. I can always just use some paracord under the shoulders to lash it onto something.
Sending email with Winlink couldn’t be easier with the @Mobilinkd TNC4 and @radiomailapp. If I could send forms for Winlink nets I would be the happiest camper.
