Last night at approximately 11:00 pm CT/10:00 pm MT, the Nebraska State Patrol issued a required monthly test of the Emergency Alert System. The tests are conducted on the third Tuesday of each month and issued by NSP, Nebraska Public Media, and the NEMA on a rotating basis. 1/3
As of 6:54 PM CST, there have been 249 severe wind reports as well as 13 tornado reports across the Plains as the line of storms rolled through. Damaging winds remain likely (and additional tornadoes possible) this evening ahead of the line within the risk areas.
Severe storms are likely today between 2 PM and 7 PM. The winds will already be very strong, but local bursts of 75-80 mph wind gusts are possible as a line of thunderstorms move through the area this afternoon. The highest tornado risk is in the highlighted area.
