@SockDem_@TODNewsHub We’re still only up to about ~65% of peak rail ridership. P Street and H street corridors are just not very dense, and aren’t able to densify further. Compare to Yorkville that got the 2nd Ave extension.
@JuliaFr44013322@AlexNoonan6 I have spent more than enough time there, you have to know most people keep their dry .20-acre lot untouched with burnt yellow dried up sod year round and the sun reflecting off the massive asphalt roofs
@kevinamezaga@DemolishSEblvd Both- but apartment values are far below the cost to build the concrete and steel highrises that we’ve relied on. Either we can zone for cheaper construction and fix costly regulations, or wait until rents increase high enough to see projects pencil
@kjeastman@SukritGanesh@kristoncapps A lot of the market-rate renters are paying with DC vouchers. Only about 20% of renters in DC actually pay market rates
@headwaysmatter@arlvabikelanes@john102414 It’s fine to swim today- EPA has the area around Hains Point and the tidal basin as safe, and the DC Water Potomac tunnel will be done in a few years. The dangerous areas are upstream by great falls.
