A quick stop in Europe before returning to Israel gave me a moment to reflect.

On my flight to Canada, I read Douglas Murray’s response to Nicholas Kristof and the now-infamous allegation that Israelis train dogs to rape Palestinian prisoners. I laughed, because Murray’s sarcasm was probably the only appropriate response to a claim so obscene, delusional, and humiliating for both the author and the publisher.

But I was not shocked that The New York Times gave such a story mainstream legitimacy. Modern antisemitic libels rarely arrive openly anymore. They are repackaged as activism, humanitarianism, or “anti-Zionism,” then amplified by institutions that are supposed to safeguard truth.

And honestly, in a New York where Zohran Mamdani can seriously emerge as a major political figure, the circulation of such madness no longer feels surreal.

Instead of merely pointing out that experts considered the allegation biologically impossible, it is worth asking a larger question: what kind of society reaches a point where millions are prepared to believe the unbelievable?

Antisemitism is indeed becoming normalized, but it is only one symptom of something much deeper: the normalization of madness itself.

How did we reach a point where children are taught, sometimes even in schools, that their gender is entirely detached from biology and subject only to feeling? Where cross-dressing in public is celebrated as avant-garde while anyone defending social norms is mocked as backward? How did the family, the nucleus of every functioning civilization, become something many intellectuals openly ridicule?

How did we reach a point where religion, whether divinely inspired or socially constructed, became viewed primarily as a source of oppression and evil, causing millions to abandon not only faith itself but also the moral frameworks attached to it, including the Ten Commandments, perhaps the most influential social pact ever created to regulate human behavior?

And more tragically still, how did we reach a point where the very people who carried that moral tradition into the world, the Jews, are increasingly portrayed as the embodiment of evil itself?

This did not happen overnight. It happened through decades of cultural conditioning, ideological indoctrination, moral relativism, and the steady erosion of the ability to distinguish right from wrong, truth from falsehood, good from evil.

And in such a world, the wolf becomes the lamb.

The United Nations can appoint Iran or Turkey to human rights bodies. Bashar al-Assad can receive protection in Russia after overseeing the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Syrians. World leaders can still roll out red carpets for Iranian officials while the regime hangs dissidents, beats women in the streets, and fuels regional chaos across the Middle East. Even the Pope can honor the Iranian ambassador while the Islamic Republic continues to execute its own people and export instability throughout the region.

Self-proclaimed feminists can enthusiastically cheer movements and regimes that systematically abuse women, imprison them, beat them, force them into submission, and sometimes even kill them, as long as those same regimes happen to oppose Israel.

Homosexual activists can wave the flags of Hamas, Hezbollah, or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, movements that would execute them without hesitation.

And eventually, in a civilization that has lost its moral compass entirely, a man can identify as a woman, a woman can identify as a cat, and a dog can rape a Palestinian.

Here's how the South African government should address the unemployment crisis:

1. Scrap the current national minimum wage. It’s a senseless policy.
2. Reduce the Labour Relations Act to less than 10 pages. It’s currently more than 200 pages.
3. Stop illegal immigration. It’s negatively affecting our labour markets.
4. End BEE and other costly regulations.
5. Slash taxes! South Africa is one of the countries with a very high tax burden in emerging markets.
6. Collaborate with the private sector to invest in investable entrepreneurs. The skin colour of entrepreneurs doesn’t matter.
7. Invest in globally competitive skills development programs.

Die hart van die NGV is sentrale beplanning. Die regering wil besluit waarheen en na watter dokter jy mag gaan.

Sentraal daartoe is die regering se plan om vir dokters voor te skryf waar hulle mag praktiseer.

Die regering wil bepaal waar daar ’n behoefte is, en dan wil hulle aan ’n dokter ’n sertifikaat uitreik wat bepaal waar hy/sy mag praktiseer.

Dit is hierdie planne van die regering om vir dokters voor te skryf waar hulle mag praktiseer, wat Solidariteit suksesvol ongrondwetlik laat verklaar het.

I saw this on FB and it made me very sad. Is their absolutely NOTHING that this criminal government can do properly.

I am about to write what has to be one of the most difficult and painful posts for me to write on Facebook.

On Friday I was given news which unfortunately I cannot disclose yet that has forced me to turn my back on something I truly love with all my heart: Kirstenbosch Garden.

I have been involved there for 19 years due to my love and passion for the garden. However Kirstenbosch is no longer a place that brings me joy and happiness but rather pain and sadness.

When I walk through nursery now I see neglect, decay and death. The amazing plant collections that have taken decades and more to establish sit neglected slowly dying.

The Protea collection is less than a third of what it was and only a fraction of the Ericas remain. One plant has gone from extinct in the wild to completely extinct purely due to lack effort to keep it going. Places once full of plants sit empty and in some cases full of weeds because the production of plants is so diminished.

Great plantsmen and women like Ernst van Jaarsveld, Monique McQuillan , Louise Nurrish , Cherise Viljoen , Anthony Hitchcock who I admired and looked up to all left way before they should have because working there had become so unpleasant and because things like procurement made it impossible for them to do their jobs.

One told me when they tried to order pots the response they got from the management of SANBI the SOE that runs many of the country's botanical gardens was what were they cooking. Another ordered pots and three years later they yet to arrive.

Poor financial management has resulted in the organisation having to use funds donated for educational purpose to pay staff salaries.

Kirstenbosch no longer has a Protea or an Erica expert and hasn't had either for years.

Staff morale is at an all time low and respect for the leadership of the garden has broken down.

The garden cannot produce metal labels to tell visitor what the names of the plants are.

I say all these things not out of animosity to anyone or with the desire to see people in trouble. I say these things because I love the garden and what I am seeing is breaking my heart. I am also saying these things because after all the friends, experiences, knowledge and memories the garden has given me I feel I have a duty to speak out for the garden in difficult times such as these.

I don't know what will happen to me for saying all this. Maybe I will be banned from the garden or get into trouble. However I refuse to stay silent and standby while the things and people that I care about suffer. I also feel that we the current custodians of the garden have a duty to preserve and protect the work of those custodians of the past for the custodians of the future.

We have two choices to be remembered as those who fought for Kirstenbosch during its most difficult and challenging times or as those who sat idly by and allowed it break down and be ruined.

I don't know if anyone will read this or if it will achieve anything but I will not keep silent while the place I love suffers and will continue to speak out against what is happening.
