I’m honored to share that the Mayor of Syracuse, Sharon Owens, has appointed me to serve on the Syracuse City School District Board of Education as a Commissioner.

I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to serve our community and remain committed to ensuring that every student has a chance to succeed.

Because education is the great equalizer.

This weekend served as a reminder of the challenges our police officers face every day. Today, we remembered the 12 officers who did not make it home. We will always uplift their memory and may it serve as a reminder of the bravery of the men and women of the @syracusepolice

The Rwandan community in Syracuse will always have my full support. It was an emotional evening as we commemorated the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi here in our city.

Thank you to Mayor Sharon Owens for the proclamation and continued support of the community.

The keynote speaker, Professor Drew Kahn, spoke about Rwanda with sincerity, depth, and undeniable passion. Onondaga County Legislature Chairwoman Nicole Watts delivered a moving speech, sharing stories that reminded us of the importance of our shared humanity.

Thank you to all the community leaders who showed up in solidarity with the Rwandan community.

What happened in Rwanda was evil—but the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi have refused to let that evil define them. They have responded with resilience, unity, remembrance, and humanity.
