7 years ago I had just come back from the National Arts Festival sure that my future was in the arts. Today I am in the top ten for GOOD’s National Assembly candidates. The resilient citizens of this country and their stories have inspired me more than any media could 🙌🏻 onwards!

I’m with journalist Anwar Omar as he lays a case against @ModiseBafana. Bafana is a well known Zionist troll who assaulted Anwar as he covered the @capeunionmart Phil Kravitz case. Anwar is a credentialed member of the Press.
Israel kills journalists. Zionists here in Cape Town assault them too. Barbarian behaviour.
I hope that @SAEditorsForum will rigorously offer this journalist and his publication strength and institutional support. @Ayesha_Bagus
This is the guy who tried to covid jab all the kids in the Cape, made them wear masks, and wanted to build transgender bathrooms in schools. I’m sure he’ll be just great running an environmental portfolio and not at all a climate change hysteric. 🤦♂️
the day I learnt that board members with non-exec functions can have their own support staff was from the NYDA.
all of this is to say R1 billion—which is what NYDA got for the currrent—is not only an insane figure, but it’s wasted on the bizarre salary structures the NYDA has.
From Soweto ’76 to 2026, young South Africans face barriers in education and work, trapped in a bottleneck of unemployment and poverty.
It’s time for decisive action: invest in education, technology, and real opportunities. Our youth cannot wait another half century.

✊ Youth Day 2026
On June 16, 1976, young people rose against injustice with courage that shook the nation. We remember those who lost their lives so that future generations could live with dignity and freedom.
Today we honour the courage of young people who stood up for justice on that day and every generation since who continues to fight for dignity, equality, and opportunity.
🧡 Their voices lit the path. Ours must carry it forward.

Meet Naledi, a young graduate with big dreams and the determination to build a brighter future. Instead of waiting for opportunities to come to her, she takes action by registering on the Employment Services of South Africa (ESSA) system.
We need to become food sovereign and start building national capacity and infrastructure to decrease the imports of things like wheat, poultry and sugar.
A young woman from Germany vanished without a trace 11 years ago. Now, her name makes several appearances in the Epstein files. Her family wants to finally learn what happened to her. https://t.co/cwnleksESl
The only mayoral candidate in Cape Town who came to listen to the stories of South African capetonians who were illegally kidnapped and tortured by Israel. Good, better, Brett!
A few days ago, I tweeted that I think the DA will lose its majority in the City of Cape Town. That opinion has resulted in me receiving thousands of DMs containing rape and death threats from DA members/supporters.
You are welcome to disagree with my opinion. If I am wrong, I am wrong. But threatening me with sexual violence because you disagree with my view is disgusting.
In addition, I have been threatened with having my job as a journalist made “difficult”. I have been told I will not be given comment when I ask for it and that my editors will be contacted and pressured to remove me from stories.
This is a tactic many of my colleagues warned me about. I have told me to avoid talking about the DA altogether because of threats like these.
Twitter is not journalism. My journalistic integrity is measured by the articles I write, not by the opinions I share on social media. A tweet is not a news article. I did not publish a piece of reporting; I expressed an opinion.
In a country where GBV claims the lives of hundreds of women yearly and has been declared a national crisis, it is completely unacceptable that I am receiving rape threats for expressing a political opinion. This is not simply another aspect of my job. While threats and attacks against journalists are sadly common, nobody would be threatening me with rape if I were a man.
I will not be silenced because I expressed a view.
In 2023, I publicly stated that I believed the ANC would lose its majority in 2024. Many people disagreed with me, but I did not receive a single rape threat from ANC members or supporters.
I do not speak about the DA more than any other political party. Analysing political parties is literally my job as a political analyst. What disgusts me is that in a country with constitutional protections for freedom of expression, a young woman can be threatened with rape and violence simply for making a political prediction.
Disagree with me if you want. Argue with me. Tell me I am wrong. But do not threaten my safety because you dislike my opinion.
