It was my sincerest honor to be a part of the @votenickmyers @VoteKThompson campaign team back in 2022. It's been an incredible honor to serve on the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) for the last four years. If you had told me 10 years ago that I would serve as ACC Chairman and play a leading role in ending the Green New Deal, accelerating new nuclear generation, approving a new generation of fossil fuel infrastructure and reducing costs for Arizona families, I wouldn't have believed you

My journey started in 2016 when my family and I were targets of illegal service disconnection from a local utility. I dug into utility regulation and discovered that one person can make a difference. That led to a job working as a Commission policy advisor, then successfully running for the Commission in 2022

During my term, one of the most important lessons I've learned is that energy policy is too important to reduce to simplistic slogans and talkng points. The challenges facing the state are real, and require serious policymakers who are interested in the facts, not just scoring political points.

With that in mind, I'm incredibly proud of the tangible work @votekthompson s and I have done to position Arizona for long term success by preserving and strengthening the reliability of our energy grid and water systems for families and job creators throughout our state.

While last night’s results were not what we hoped, I look forward to working with my colleagues over the next 5 months to finish my term the same way it began - delivering conservative, consumer friendly results for ratepayers.

My journey as a commissioner may be ending in January, but I will never stop fighting for Arizona families and the policies that will strengthen our great state.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Looks like the Governor's Energy Taskforce has been perusing my website for their energy policy. Hobbs told the AZ Republic: "We are not in a position where we can pick winners and losers in the energy space. We have to have an all of the above approach." Glad that you all agree with my campaign talking points going back to 2023.

I'm so glad you agree with me that we need to expand dispatchable baseload power in Arizona and we should not shut down infrastructure with useful life. This is why the Commission voted Wednesday to support the continued operations at Springerville generating station and Coronado generating station for TEP and SRP. As the linked article outlines from our meeting, keeping TEP's units as coal fired until their scheduled closure dates would cost in excess of $450 million dollars. The conversion to gas power is far less money around $170 million dollars. SRP, who we do not regulate rates for, will also have savings from this change. This is a no brainer decision. Your post indicates that you actually didn’t read the linked article and seem to think these utilities are spending billions on solar and batteries when they are NOT. The prices for the renewables and coal was given as a comparison to show that natural gas was the cheapest option by far.
I am delivering on my promise to support the least cost, most reliable options to support Arizona’s growing demand for power. President Trump is doubling down to increase domestic natural gas production, and because of his work, new pipelines are coming to Arizona. His Administration supports the work the Arizona Corporation Commission is doing which is why the Dept of Energy, the Energy Dominance Council, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission have participated in our meetings.
Costly environmental restrictions have been placed on coal over the years from Obama and Biden, and these plants were previously scheduled for closure. They had no orders from the federal government to stay open. Fortunately, the Springerville and Coronado plants are staying open with yesterday's vote, and the rural communities are celebrating! We had strong support from their elected officials and community members yesterday who spoke at our meeting, as well as letters of support in the docket. I am proud to be part of a decision that will deliver more power at a lower cost while protecting jobs and rural communities!

To anyone criticizing the Corporation Commission: In a word Rachel Walden is incorruptible. She is also very possibly the smartest woman in Arizona politics today. And the hardest working. I would encourage anyone with questions about the Commission to reach out to her directly. This is actually one agency that I feel is in good hands!
