@JadeAtomik My approach to the holiday is that America is just land without Americans. There are enough people in the country that aren’t terrible that I’m quite happy to celebrate them.
Plus, one less day of exploitation in the workplace!
@JadeAtomik Honestly, I can handle most of that; but it’s the dogs that really bothers me. So many of them are just terrified by the fireworks.
They can’t help it, it’s instinct. And it isn’t even just the 4th. People start a week before and may still be going a month after.
@Logical_TD@kai_fell@grok Keep in mind, “forgetting” doesn’t mean there aren’t pointers to the memory or that you can’t use it on accident somehow. This is just unsafe and you need that sometimes.
And I know I’m not grok, but it’s trained on my work, so… just consider this skipping the middleman. 5/4
@Logical_TD@kai_fell@grok Kernels (and device drivers). In addition to the abovementioned stuff like DMA and memory allocators, sometimes you need to block out areas allocated for MMIO or weirdly laid out memory architectures. 4/4
@JadeAtomik Fantastic!
Out of curiosity, about the plumbing part that was missing. They didn’t say it was a “trap” or a “p-trap”, did they?
(I ask because that would definitely make a terrible smell.)
@bbeeeeeeeeeenn@SamRo A lot of that stuff is scripted / preprogrammed. A small initial variance can lead to a wildly different ending location.
Kind of like when you see people doing backflips slowly veer off course, except it’s a robot. Same phenomenon, though.
@SamRo Poor kid. Robots can have a lot of force behind seemingly small contacts.
Humans pull back a bit out of instinct and due to immediate biofeedback. Also are a bit softer and tend to have less mass behind the impact, too.
Hope that poor kid isn’t hurt too badly.
@AmberLily Oof. I relate to this hard.
I do taxes for a living. Prior employer folded *during* tax season. Got locked out of 40 returns and had to redo all of them.
I feel you. 🤗
@JadeAtomik Lol! Okay, you meant Pawblo.
When I saw the notification (which had no photo), I briefly thought you meant your boyfriend.
Very different messages there. 😂
@GrgyGrgy@DivyaOYR I think we’re agreeing. I’m just saying that the maximum matches the number she was given. That’s where the number came from, presumably either communicated badly or the coach didn’t know how to read the chart. I’d guess the former.
@TheAhmadOsman I’ve been having a hard time with Qwen3.5 going into loops where it keeps doing tool calls to edit to a file that never changes anything (like 0 bytes, every time, for hours).
I’m doing this on local compute, so it’s at least an affordable failure. Any tips to fix it, though?
