@JioCare @JioCare is a perfect case of how despite multiple options, there is no way to ensure human intervention when needed. The support email leads to dead links. Automated help services have no resolution. The brand takes money through MyJio app & fails to provide services. Alarming.

Today, I appeared for Ariful Islam, a lawyer who was merely a bystander near the site of a protest in Guwahati.

He was in his advocate's uniform, showed the police his Bar ID card, and was carrying copies of the BNS and BNSS - So much Suraksha for a Nagarik!

Yet he was detained for over 24 hours at a police station and booked under Section 152 of the BNS for allegedly "endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India."

This comes even as the Government has agreed to withdraw cases against peaceful protesters across the country.

Ariful has now been remanded to judicial custody until 7 August.

The police can cross all limits of arbitrariness - violate every protection guaranteed under the Constitution - and we can hardly do anything!

Read the story. It mentions that Delhi Police has denied using pellets. Pellet guns and shock-batons are part of RAF gear, which was working alongside Delhi Police and deployed in and around Jantar Mantar on July 20. RAF is a part of CRPF. The central armed police forces are deployed on the request of the State police, in this case- Delhi Police.

I got this message from a friend who is 59, born in Delhi and who has voted several times but not in 2024 because her name got removed. Surely the @ECISVEEP and its system have a solution to situations like hers:

“So as a single person with dead parents (whose voter IDs are unavailable) I cannot be registered! I have to have either parents or spouse or some other legal guardian who has an EPIC number that can be put on the form. Otherwise there is no way forward…

“I have a voter ID but before the last election someone went to verify and not finding me living there Just deleted me from the rolls. Now to get back on I have to have the above.”
