💢 Israeli Navy Kills Gaza Fisherman Off Deir el-Balah Coast

🔹Israeli naval vessels opened fire with machineguns on a fishing boat off the coast of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, killing fisherman Muhammad Musa Abu Jiab, according to WAFA.

🔹Gaza’s Fishermen Syndicate says at least 238 fishermen have been killed by Israel since October 2023, with more than 20 killed or detained since the ceasefire began in October. 

🔹The head of the syndicate, Zakaria Baker, said “the sea is practically closed,” with fishermen venturing no more than 800 meters offshore in small boats due to ongoing uncertainty about how far they can go. 

🔹Israel has also banned the entry of fishing engines and equipment into Gaza since October 2023, crippling a sector that once supported roughly 5,000 fishermen and 50,000 family members, with total losses estimated at over $70 million and more than 90% of fishing infrastructure destroyed.

עשרות מתנחלים רעולי פנים תקפו ארבעה כפרים שונים בסמוך ליצהר החל מהשעה 11:00, תוך שהם מיידים אבנים, מציתים רכוש, תוקפים תושבים וגונבים עדרי צאן.

עפ"י מקור בטחוני האירוע החל לאחר שהמתנחלים דיווחו כי עדר צאן ישראלי נגנב. מעדויות התושבים הפלסטיניים במשך זמן ממושך פשטו המתנחלים על מספר כפרים במקביל ללא התערבות כוחות הביטחון. עפ"י הסהר האדום שמונה פלסטיניים נפגעו, מרביתם משאיפת גז מדמיע וכדורי גומי לאחר הגעת כוחות צה"ל למקום. מצה"ל נמסר סביב השעה 13:00 כי כוחות קפצו לנקודות ופועלים כדי לפזר את החיכוך. בפועל - ככה נראה פיזור החיכוך באחת הנקודות.

בכפר חווארה תועדו עשרות מתנחלים רעולי פנים מיידים אבנים, משחיתים רכוש, תוקפים מבנים מאויישים וגונבים עדרי צאן. בתיעוד אחר נראה צעיר פלסטיני מדמם מראשו כשעל הדרך לצידו מספר מתנחלים, מסתמן כי מדובר בפלסטיני שמותקף בסרטון הנ״ל בצוותא עם חייל צה״ל . מעדויות עולה כי הצעיר הוכה במוט ברזל בראשו והוא הובהל לקבלת טיפול רפואי ומצבו מוגדר קשה עפ״י גורמי רפואה. בתיעוד נוסף נראים מתנחלים בכפר עינאבוס ועפ"י דיווח מקומי יידו אבנים ותקפו בית מגורים. באסירה אלקביליה תועדו מתנחלים, חלקם בחולצות שבת ואחרים רעולי פנים בלבוש שחור עם אלות בידיהם. בתיעוד נוסף נראית קבוצה גדולה פושטת על המחצבות שבין אסירה אל קביליה לכפר עוריף.

השבוע החליטו בצה"ל להדיח את רבש"צ ההתנחלות יצהר לאחר שמתנחלים חמושים מנעו קציר פלסטיני, אף שהוא תואם עם המנהל האזרחי. בתיעודים פלסטיניים שהופצו מהמקום נראו מתנחלים חמושים החוסמים את הכביש הראשי ומכוונים את נשקם לעבר כלי רכב פלסטיניים. מצה"ל נמסר כי הרבש"ץ הודח "בשל אירועים חוזרים של חריגה מסמכות ואזהרות חוזרות בנושא". מאז, במשך מספר ימים ישנו ריבוי אירועים במרחב, לרבות אירועי הצתה בקרבת כפרים פלסטיניים, אירועים שהגיעו לשיא בבוקר יום שבת.

I see that this 5Pillars readers’ poll has angered many of my Syrian brothers and sisters, and understandably so, because irrespective of this mainly UK-based poll, Ahmed al-Sharaa is hugely popular among Syrians, whether non-Syrians like him or not.

We carried out similar reader polls when the Taliban took over in 2021 and when Muhammad Yunus took over after Sheikh Hasina was toppled in 2024.
