That moment when John McCain in Kyiv in 2013, was openly boasting on CNN that the US delegation was there to "orchestrate" a regime change in Ukraine?
He flaunted it, with Victoria Nuland at his side, actively manipulating the overthrow of the democratically elected President Yanukovych.
No subtlety.
No pretense.
Just raw, brazen intervention.
The US HICAR program will make their new 6.8mm rounds obsolete before wide adoption.
The HICAR program aims to increase chamber pressure and improve the bullet design of the existing 5.56 rounds, achieving the same goals of the NGSW program chambered in 6.8mm rounds. The projected goals of the NGSW was to have the 6.8 rounds to provide the US infantrymen better range and armor penetration against peer enemies.
But now, given the 6.8mm round was a dud in both China and the US, (the difference is, we didn't waste $4.5 billion).
With inspiration from the US HICAR program, the PLA's 5.8 rounds will provide a solid foundation for us to build something that can easily exceeds the requirement of the American HICAR.
The PLA 5.8 rounds have flatter and more extended pressure-time curve, meaning it can achieve similar muzzle velocities with much less chamber pressure, saving barrel life and more manageable recoil.
Not only is China overmatching the US in the air with our 6th gen fighters, or on the seas backed by our massive shipbuilding capacity; now the much touted advantage of individual soldiers, that the US have cultivated during the "Global war on Terror" have also been eroded.
In March 2026, one month into Trump and Netanyahu's 3 day special military operation against Iran, Trump bragged how the "We are going to make a lot of money due to oil price hikes".
It was not clear who's "we", But it's safe to assume, if you're conscious about gas and grocery prices, then you're not part of the "We".
@ChoniginS
Russia invaded Germany?
Germany’s economy lost €300+ billion.
Nuclear plants destroyed.
Factories shut down.
Foreigners massively taking cities and displacing the native population.
Children are being dragged into the army...
No. Russia did not bomb Germany yet.
This is the policy of Scholz and Merz against their own people.
Freedom for Germany!
People assume Japan is safe from this.
We are not, and I would rather be honest about where we actually stand.
Last year Japan recorded 2.57 million foreign workers. The highest number in our history.
Our government's answer this January was a policy package with a title that took me a while to translate properly.
Comprehensive Measures for Accepting Foreign Nationals and Orderly Coexistence.
Read that title again slowly.
Accepting is a decision. Orderly coexistence is a hope.
There was no referendum. There was no election fought over the number. It was announced, and then it was the plan.
I am not writing this to warn Britain or America. You are further down this road than we are and you already know what is on it.
I am writing it because Japanese people are still being told this is a technical labour question, and I would like us to stop pretending we did not watch what happened to countries we love.

⚠️🇺🇦 🇩🇪 Explosions were reported in Kyiv after air raid sirens sounded and authorities warned of Russian drones in Ukrainian airspace, as the German chancellor’s visit began in the capital.
This is one of the most famous images in the world, and almost no one knows that the man who made it was over seventy, and believed he was only just getting started...
It's The Great Wave off Kanagawa, by Katsushika Hokusai, made in the early 1830s. A wall of water rises over three narrow boats, its crest breaking into claws of white foam, while the men inside bow their heads and hold on. And far in the distance, so small you might miss it, sits Mount Fuji, the most sacred mountain in Japan, framed by the curve of the wave as if it were just another pebble in the sea.
By then Hokusai had already been drawing for more than sixty years.
He had made thousands of prints and illustrated hundreds of books, more than enough for most people to call it a life's work, but he saw all of it as little more than a warm-up…
At seventy-five, he wrote that "until the age of 70, nothing I drew was worthy of notice," and that if he lived to a hundred and ten, "every dot and every stroke will be as though alive." He signed it "Old Man Mad about Painting."
He didn't make it to a hundred and ten. He died at nearly ninety, still working, still sure his best was ahead of him. And his last words, recorded by his daughter, were not about what he'd done, but about what he still wanted to do. He asked for five more years of life, "then I'll manage to become a true artist."
Most of us spend our lives believing our best years are behind us. The man who made the most famous wave in history spent his believing they hadn't arrived yet…
