@awinton27@SPFLWatch I’d guess short term housing for starters, that’s a big problem in Scotland even without a World Cup during the summer. And then there’s public transportation, council services for the increased population, healthcare, infrastructure costs for cities that will need a boost, etc
@Shequis334376 I’ve walked the streets of London and barely saw an English flag. The Scots and the Welsh know better than to be dragged into a monolithic identity, across the political spectrum. I’d argue that’s not opposition to the Union but the British identity that is English in practice.
@John_R_Spicebag@feelingsplain British is not a geographical identity, it’s a political one and it shouldn’t be hard to comprehend why anybody sans the English wouldn’t want to identify as one over their national identity.
@aodanhill The customers being Scottish? Much of Scotland’s Asian food in restaurants wouldn’t sell too well in the Indian subcontinent, given how much they’re modified for the Scottish palette. Not traditional but I’d still argue it’s Scottish.
@mumbaiheritage I haven’t lived in Bombay in a long time but I found it wrong to call a Gothic structure after a person who never stepped into the city. Even though I’m hardly a monarchist, VT as a name actually has relevance to its history. Wish they’d just gone back to Bori Bunder.
@leftinista I’m more disturbed by the fact that alcohol in Westminster is subsidised by the taxpayer for the lot that makes £93,904 a year. And MPs from opposing benches coming together to express their entitlement to it with ad hominem attacks on Spencer and the Greens
@Alison_S_Taylor@paulhutcheon Alison, Labour in Scotland is fighting for second place even in the worst-case polls for the SNP. You don’t seriously expect voters to eat up your party messaging at face value, do you?
