You claim walking out honors your mandate. It does the exact opposite. You do not represent the people by leaving an empty chair. Walking out is not leadership, it is a tactical tantrum when you lack the votes to get your way.

The plenary floor holds supreme authority over any unorganized committee. If no rules were broken, your grievance is purely emotional, not procedural. You cannot weaponize the absence of a committee to paralyze the entire legislative branch of government.

Democracy functions through numerical majorities. Labeling a standard democratic vote as "tyranny" simply because you are outnumbered is politically hypocritical. The chamber moves at the speed of progress, not at the pace of minority filibusters.

An official state declaration has no business repeating unverified internet rumors about potential arrests. Grounding a constitutional protest on gossip undermines your own credibility and reduces a serious legislative body to a tabloid.

The rule is actually very succinct and clear: NO ONE may be arrested in the Philippines EXCEPT on the strength of a warrant issued by a court of competent jurisdiction IN THE PHILIPPINES under certain conditions and observing due process. It's in the Constitution.

People keep quoting the Rome Statute while ignoring the very part that weakens their argument.

The Preamble itself states:

👉🏽 “It is the duty of every State to exercise its criminal jurisdiction…”

and that the ICC is merely:

👉🏽 “Complementary to national criminal jurisdictions.”

Complementary — not superior.

That means the primary responsibility still belongs to the sovereign state and its own legal system. The Rome Statute was never written to erase constitutions, bypass domestic courts, or automatically make foreign-issued warrants self-executing on Philippine soil.

So if you truly understand the Rome Statute, then you should also understand this: The Philippine Constitution remains supreme within the Philippines, and constitutional safeguards do not disappear just because an international body issues paperwork.

Senators who casually acknowledge a foreign arrest warrant without emphasizing Philippine constitutional process should not be the ones crafting our laws. Should not be a senator of the republic..

The Philippine Constitution is the supreme law of the land, not subordinate to foreign entities. Any foreign process affecting a Filipino citizen must still pass through proper Philippine legal validation and due process.

That is the duty of lawmakers: to defend the integrity of our legal system, not weaken it through selective interpretation driven by politics.

Bato dela Rosa ay nasa gitna ng drama. Yun sana yung "best experience" mo para firsthand mong malaman kung ano talaga ang nangyari.

Pero ano? Umalis ka early for a "meeting outside." Tapos ngayon bold mong ipino-post: "Gusto ko ring malaman kung ano ang tunay na nangyari? Paano? At bakit?"

Fourth term senator ka na, yet you bolted at the first sign of real chaos. You openly admitted it. Tapos denial pa na walang warning sa minority? Ang convenient naman. Habang kayo nasa safe zone, yung iba nandun sa loob — naririnig ang putok, takot, at biglang "escape."

Ngayon gusto niyo pa ng investigation? Release ng CCTV? Accountability?

Where was that energy when you chose to leave?

This isn't just shocking and saddening, Sen. Kiko. This is the kind of political theater that makes Filipinos lose all trust in the Senate. You don't get to run away from the fire and then play "concerned citizen" the next day.

We saw you leave. The Filipino people saw it too.

Enough with the after-the-fact statements. Face the mess you helped create — or at least the one you refused to stay for.

Kudos to the Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms, led by retired General Aplasca. They were not intimated, they stood their ground, they showed that they were ready to fearlessly fight it out to safeguard the sanctity of the Senate premises. SNAPPY SALUTE, SIR! 👍

Back in 2018, Trillanes used the Senate premises as his bed-and-breakfast for three weeks to evade arrest. He remained there under the protective custody of then Senate President Sotto.

Take note, none of these Senators—Hontiveros, Aquino and Sotto— filed a resolution urging him to surrender.

Now, they want Dela Rosa to do exactly that!
