Hon. Wainaina acknowledged his error in judgment, expressed remorse and committed to retracting his utterances, while pledging to support peace efforts as a peace ambassador.
True leadership requires accountability.

We also discussed digital awareness, youth participation, and how Finland and NCIC can deepen cooperation in support of a peaceful and inclusive 2027 electoral process.
The road to a peaceful election has already started — and young people must be part of that journey.
I joined the #NCIC Chairman, Bishop Dr. Kepha Omae, fellow Commissioners and the CEO in a courtesy meeting with the Ambassador of Finland to Kenya, H.E. Riina-Riikka Heikka, alongside Deputy Head of Mission Leo Svahnback and Political Affairs Adviser Yuri Birjulin.
I also emphasised the need to bring young people into this conversation, especially on social media. Young people have a powerful voice online, and we can harness that reach to challenge misinformation and hate speech, and flag issues before they grow into bigger tensions.
International Day of Peace 2026 |
Peace is not something we wait for. It is something we choose, protect and invest in, every day.
As Kenya approaches another defining electoral period, the responsibility to protect our peace belongs to all of us.
Our differences in politics and ethnicity must never become reasons to divide or harm one another. The choices we make, in our homes, communities, workplaces and especially in how we speak and engage online, can either deepen division or strengthen our shared nationhood.
In response to summons issued by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission #NCIC, I joined fellow Commissioners as Kajiado Governor H.E. Joseph Ole Lenku, EGH appeared before the Commission.
I also emphasized that Kenya’s ethnic diversity is a strength, and every Kenyan has the right to freedom of movement, belonging and equal enjoyment of their rights, regardless of identity or origin.
