Confirming @BlazerFreeman report that Kevin Calabro is stepping away from Blazers TV play by play. Calabro said he received low contract offer on Monday.
“Easy decision. Not worth my time,” Calabro said. “Which is sad because it’s a great roster and the people there are great.”
LeBron James is slow-playing his decision to see if any of his free agency suitors land Anthony Davis or Kyrie Irving, sources tell Yahoo Sports' .@KevinOConnor.
One caveat: Neither Davis nor Irving seem to be available for trade.
Ole Miss' Pete Golding on Lane Kiffin: "Lane & I are good. I didn't know him before taking the job (at Ole Miss). I have no ill will toward Coach Kiffin. He texts me on a regular basis & there's certain things we'll talk about, certain things we don't talk about."
ESPN used to be oasis of stability as mags like Sports Illustrated laid off talent.
Now there's been so many cutbacks in last decade that laid off ESPNers joke about belonging to the 'Class of 2023' or 'Class of 2020.'
Welcome to the 'Class of 2026.'

"It sucks to drop the ball because, at the receiver position, that’s literally what you get paid to do." - Alabama wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams on bouncing back from a disappointing sophomore season
Nick Saban jokingly recalled recruiting Roman Harper to play for him at LSU during SEC Now earlier today.
“I wanted this guy (Harper) so bad. We recruited him when he was in high school. He wouldn’t even talk to us when I was at LSU,” Saban said, “I always treated the safeties on the team in higher esteem than the quarterback, and he didn’t get that.”
Harper went on to sign with Alabama and had a successful 11-year NFL career. 👏🏼

Nick Saban said Alabama could be "very good" defensively, but he wants to see Kane Wommack use more man-to-man coverage to make the defense "even more productive."
"When you play zone, which Alabama has been largely a zone team, when you play a good quarterback, that breaking on the ball gets overrated."

Kalen DeBoer to SEC Network on EJ Crowell: "He shows so many things -- we didn't get a chance to see him in the spring just with some injury pieces that were going on. A lot of the tools that you feel lead to being a great running back, he certainly has those. He's got a work ethic to support those goals that he has. I'd like to think that he's gonna be a piece of the puzzle when it comes to our running back position that's going to be instrumental to us being as successful as we want to be."
Kalen DeBoer told SEC Network that Alabama "more so than in any other year really dove into the fall camp schedule and taken a look at that to make sure we're ready to play Week 1 but we're also making sure throughout the long haul, the entire season, with only one bye week that we can stay as fresh as possible with the schedule and the grind that it's going to be."
Only one bye week in CFB in 2026 after there were two in 2024 and 2025 because of an extra Saturday between Labor Day and Thanksgiving on the calendar.
Ryan Coleman-Williams to SEC Network: "I actually got married in a courthouse on Juneteenth. It's been awesome. This summer I've been able to just focus on ball because I got my girl in my corner."
Kalen DeBoer questioned by Roman Harper on SEC Network about why Alabama doesn't practice in the afternoons when it's hotter to simulate conditions: "There's definitely -- we practice later mornings. The heat is setting in. There's a balance of it not wearing on you so much to where you're still staying fresh, but also you are taking on that time of the day and feeling the elements.
"Our scrimmages are pushed back later. There are other times in practices. We certainly understand the impact that weather can make and the heat in particular. When we evaluate our entire fall camp, that was one of the areas we looked at."
Kalen DeBoer was asked how he feels he's handled replacing Nick Saban at Alabama.
"I understand what took place and happened here during the great times and Coach Saban obviously leading the charge here, but I also love the challenge of trying to continue to build on that..."
Kalen DeBoer to @977ESPN on East Carolina and OC Jordan Davis, who was part of North Texas' offensive staff last season that finished No. 1 nationally in averaging 512 YPG: "I know people probably haven't dove into what East Carolina is all about. Couple new coordinators that have had a lot of success at different places. High-level success, statistically, especially. Them coming into a program that won quite a few games -- won a bowl game, won the last two bowl games. ... We got to be ready. We know they're going to come in motivated."
Kalen DeBoer to @macandcube on QB competition: "...I'd love to have the guy decided already. I think that's a benefit. But that's not the case. I think it comes to the timing -- you want to [have a starter named] a couple weeks before the season starts, and last year that's what we went in with, but we made the decision earlier than that. Ty had separated himself. We'll see how this goes. Rep-wise we want to balance it out between the two of them as much as we can. ..."
Nick Saban on SEC Network: "Keelon Russell, I've watched this guy for two springs. He didn't play much in the fall. I watched him in two springs. This guy is a talented guy who is a playmaker who can make plays, and whether he's ready to play now or not – obviously the coaches will determine that – he is going to be an outstanding player in the future."
