I am not in favour of MDR. I believe that UPI enabled the government to get a huge amount of small business move into formal economy. The growth of GDP also carries a small % of business turnovers turning 'white' via UPI. It also made many merchants to turn income tax compliant. Most of the transactions on UPI are of less than 2000/-. Anyone can check one's UPI account and see how many are above 2000/-, may be fuel.
However, there is clear division of MDR fee into various recipients. Of 8/- per transaction of merchant 0nly 1.80 or so goes to UPI gateway. Balance amounts are shared by banks and the bank that processed the transaction. The table is shared by TOI. So, to claim foreign companies are going to benefit from it is propaganda. Third point is, it may be foreign banks' move to save their visa and master cards that have taken massive beating due to UPI. Once you begin charging, one doesn't know when it will blow into something bigger, getting credit card companies back into business.

In August 2025, he suffered a severe posterior circulation stroke. Today, he has Locked-in Syndrome. His body has been severely affected. His mind has not.
He is conscious and aware. He remembers. He thinks. Through eye movements and alphabet-based scanning, he communicates his thoughts. Further complications resulted in bilateral below-knee amputations.

• Veteran organisations or individuals who can open the right doors
Someone reading this may know a doctor who has treated a similar patient, a rehabilitation team that has seen a different outcome, a relevant researcher—or someone who can make the right introduction.

His prognosis should be determined by medicine and how his body responds—not by a lack of information, access or connections.
