@showfortennis It has nothing to do with marketing. People watch slams because of the best of 5 format. Best of 3 doesn't engage viewers in the same way. All the data of the last 120yrs proves it.
@DjokovicFan_ When tennis players complain about having to play tennis... if they don't want to play they should give a chance to all the others that are waiting on the wings
@BenoitMaylin He should know better than to take away a WC from an up and coming player who needs it easy more than him. Sad to see a true champion become like this
@VaresanoMarco What a terrible idea. The same as making doubles best of two sets and cancelling Davis Cup. Players only promote more pay less play but never think of the game and fans
@duke622@nolevolent Federer was the instigator and got caught at his own game by ND. Tennis is much poorer now. We have lost Davis Cup, best of 5 on ATP and Olympics, large draws, long sets, doubles...in return we have exhibitions like Laver Cup and 6 King's, and 13min tactical breaks....
@josemorgado How is she still in main draws? Wild cards? She is taking the spot of an up and coming player who needs it way more than her. She should know better
@HanlonWalsh Doubles is a victim of our own errors. We made it best of 2 sets on tour, cancelled best of 5 in slams, killed the iconic Saturday Davis Cup tie, allowed the best players to not play. Doubles is dead and will not revive unless we right the wrongs of the past.
@duke622@nolevolent Yes you are right, I am emotional on this subject. I do think ND is the greatest to have played, but a pity his legacy includes the long tactical breaks and never having to play best of 5 in Olympics, M1000 and masters. So not the same measuring stick with the other greats.
@pavyg@Martina What a ridiculous thing to have to say. It's like saying: from now on we only play tennis with tennis rackets and tennis balls. We live in an age where common sense has left the building.
@WillBoucek Doubles died long ago, when we allowed the best players to not play, when we made doubles best of 2 sets, then we cancelled best of 5 in slams and we scrapped the iconic Saturday Davis Cup tie. Doubles has nothing left to show for. We let it happen over 20yrs.
@duke622@nolevolent Not true, the tactical break for the loser of a set did not exist until the 2010s when ND started. It goes against the principles of the sport and he should have known better
@tennisinsidercl Easy problem to solve. Make draws on tour bigger, less seeds, more wild cards reserved for up and coming players, add some tournaments to the schedule and make finals best of 5. Easy.
