It is impossible to talk abt student suicides without being labelled partisan by one or the other side. We did with farmer suicides too.
Result: voices of suicide prevention experts are drowned in the cacophony.

@Kaju_Nut @curiouswavefn Also it’s not true that AI has not affected the job market. Science funding in the U.S. is increasingly allocated to AI research (this is a super broad umbrella). The U.S. being one of the largest job markets for hep-th then has an effect on almost every other country.

I suspect that parents will not want computers to teach their kids after paying so much money. In India, there’s no way the government institutions will cut permanent members due to AI.

@Kaju_Nut @curiouswavefn It just feels super dismissive watching permanent people discuss this with so much distance from the problem. Our lives are being destroyed literally. There are grad students dying of suicide as we speak. Permanent members need to stop just stop discussing these points.
