@sadgefroge Sexual minorities in contemporary Korea are slowly getting accepted into society but still have a long way to work out their equality. Some LGBTQIA's move to Korea or get jobs with American bosses to be more accepted by the people around them. Many are still hiding identities.
@sadgefroge Korean media is also not helping the LGBTQIA's situation as well because there is limited media representation. Many Koreans are influenced by media and with no representation, it is easy to get mislead about communities such as LGBTQIA.
@draco_zhu But, in Koreas society, even young confident girls who are confident with themselves might think about surgery. This is because Korean society normalized getting surgery in their culture. They might think that it is not a big deal and there is no reason to not get it.
@draco_zhu It does encourage surgery for girls who have very low self-esteem and confidence because they will feel like they are never enough. The girls who do not care about what other people say, it will not affect them because they are confident of who they are.
@cryptidjay My final concern about fan translation is that after the fan translation happened into English, when it gets translated into the third time, it might just loose the cultural aspects and it also might get translated into a different meaning altogether.
@cryptidjay The second concern that I have is that fans who are not fluent in Korean and does not know a lot about Korean culture might not be able to translate well enough for the audience to understand jokes or social hierarchy.
@jo_y145 These acts of kindness prove that they are not just fan blinded by their love for idols, but they are maturing into a group that changes the world while they have a passion for kpop.
@jo_y145 Kpop fans donating for different causes have proven to the world that they are much more than just fans that love their idols. These donations range from building a school for another country, supporting local hospitals to donating rice.
@colettenguyen_ Kpop idols are different than Western stars because of how they are developed. Kpop idols take years to train to become stars, but westerners are usually just found. But they are similar because they are both musical artists that makes music.
