Wokeness literally came out of nowhere.

Just as race had largely become a non-issue over the course of the 80s and 90s, social science departments across the country began manufacturing cultural crises, complete with absurd terminology, out of thin air.

Because without conflict the left can’t retain power we were suddenly bombarded with insane claims about “microaggressions,”
“cultural appropriation,” and “intersectionality.”

Peace was never an option, and with nothing to be mad about academics simply made a bunch of stuff up.

Out of nowhere an entire movement was born, and it would sweep through our most hallowed institutions like a fire through Rome.

Companies, universities, and government agencies would spend the next 15 years slaying imaginary boogeymen rather than accomplishing their stated missions.

Corporations held struggle sessions; colleges illegally persecuted certain demographics when it came to acceptance; and governments of all stripes prioritized social justice over serving their citizens.

It’s almost hard to remember how ridiculous it all was. They interrupted brunches with megaphones, put porn in elementary schools and, in the end, burned down entire cities.

The price tag, in hindsight, was almost certainly enormous.

How many qualified applicants were denied jobs, affecting the performance of the captured institutions? Would we have cured cancer by now? Touched down on Mars?

We will never know because we were too busy ensuring that bisexual Filipino amputees could serve in combat roles!

One can only imagine where we’d be if the last decade-and-a-half wasn’t stolen from us.

And what did it accomplish? NOTHING!

It was always doomed to collapse, of course, as it was nothing more than a pyramid scheme of oppression.

But it hasn’t disappeared. Rather it has basically rebranded under the DSA.

The left needs a struggle to survive and wokeness, which framed struggle in terms of race and sexuality, has fizzled out.

But “eat the rich” has never been more in.

Which is why we cannot allow the architects of these movements rob us of our rightful progress.

Because the left doesn’t create, it only destroys.

And perhaps nothing illustrates that better than our recent 15-year-long national nightmare.

Texas is not guaranteed to stay red. If Republicans don’t take this Senate race seriously, we could lose the state. The left is working aggressively to shape public opinion, and ignoring that threat is not an option.

We must invest in Hispanic communities, earn their trust, and clearly present a conservative vision that speaks to every voter. Complaints won’t win elections; strong outreach and hard work will. I campaigned alongside the President to help earn the Hispanic vote and win the White House. We need that same determination in Texas.
