India’s rail network is transforming rapidly. With high-speed corridors and trains like Vande Bharat, even a Bengaluru–Mumbai sleeper journey could drop from 24 hours to 16 hours saving nearly a full day.
Yet, the Mangalore–Goa–Mumbai line still crawls at 45 km/h.
Why?
Because development here has stalled under Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd @KonkanRailway where profit seems to outweigh national importance.
This isn’t just a railway line it serves education hubs, engineering sectors, pilgrimage routes, tourism, defence, and major ports along India’s west coast.
While Indian Railways innovates nationwide, the west coast line remains a glaring gap.
We hold @AshwiniVaishnaw and @narendramodi accountable because if anyone has the capacity to fix this, it is them.

@BLR_Avgeek Could be operational reasons and recently Pitline upgradation has been completed at SBC grid-I.
Also SBC upgradation works to be started by this year end
KSR Bengaluru to H.Nizammudin Rajdhani Express to run via BNC-BYPL-CSDR (instead of YPR-LOGH)
No changes in timings of arr & dep
The Primary Maintenance of this train will be shifted to Sbc Grid-I
Staring from: 8th April 2026
Why so many delays in @drmsbc division for ROB/RUB construction
@VSOMANNA_BJP is not efficient in getting things done even for Tumkur
Same with Devangonti ROB almost a decade old project still WIP (Fight bw state and railways)
@GMSWR@SWRRLY
Local MPs are not so serious
This needs to be extended to Talaguppa.
We have already requested both MPs hoping for some progress.
An early morning train from Bengaluru to Talaguppa would be an unimaginable success.
Monsoon alone can recover the cost twice over!
Kindly request you to extend 22231/32 SMVB-KLBG Vande Bharat Express to SBC and reduce the travel time. This will help 1000s of passengers on a regular basis.
SMVB is not so convenient for Intra state trains
@Central_Railway@DRMSolapur@drmsbc@VSOMANNA_BJP@AshwiniVaishnaw
@KRCL_UsersVoice My tweet was abt delay justification nothing else
Definitely Panchaganga exp deserves more coaches and it will be a game changer for sure but not a cost of increasing travel time of other trains
Lolz I didn't mention anything about which train to cross where. Please read slowly
What's the logic in justifying the delay is common??
No train should be delayed irrespective of long distance or shorter one
When the TT is prepared all aspects will be thoroughly checked and finalised.
Carefully observe !
Date: 4th April 2026
Train: 16511 Bangalore–Mangalore Express
Arrived at Subramanya at 5:09 AM — just 18 minutes late. This is a very normal delay for a long-distance train.
Importantly, today the Panchaganga Express crossing also happened at Subramanya (SBHR) itself.
So the question is — how and why is Panchaganga Express being blamed for delays of 16511?
Also 15 minutes delay for over night train is something all worried for ?
The facts clearly don’t support that narrative.
Kerala centric Mangalore lobbies whole agenda is disturbing coastal lifeline Panchaganga express .

Even Panchaganga Exp is also a long distance train so that we can't say 15-20mins delay is fine.
Panchaganga is one of the important trains connecting the coastal area just because of that other trains can't be delayed
South Western Railway has raised maximum sectional speed on Bengaluru division’s Yelahanka-Dharmavaram BG section from 110 kmph to 130 kmph @SWRRLY@drmsbc@DrmBengaluru
Bengaluru: CMRS inspection of Bengaluru Cantonment-Byappanahalli quadrupling section has been postponed.
Reportedly, during an OHE trial on March 27, an engine run from Baiyappanahalli Outer faced an issue when the pantograph got entangled with an OHE post extension rod, detaching from the engine & disrupting about 500m of the new line. The incident has raised concerns over OHE quality. SWR has remained tight-lipped.
SWR officials said CMRS may now inspect the section on March 30 @SWRRLY@drmsbc@DrmBengaluru

Mangalore is losing from all perspectives (Railway)
Please look into this.
Extension of 16511/12 will gradually reduce seat quota for Mangalore & Puttur people
Better try to short terminate this train at Mangalore and run as a separate train till Kozhikode
@CaptBrijesh
Our politicians are sleeping ??
@CaptBrijesh@VSOMANNA_BJP
By extension of this train to Calicut further reduce the seat quota for Mangalore-Subramanya section
Big disappointment for Mangalore people
@RCBTweets is offering Free Metro Ride for every ticket purchase is a very good move by encouraging people to use Public transport.
I hope @OfficialBMRCL has made arrangements for better crowd management at stations (Especially Kempegowda Interchange, Cubbon Park & MG Rd)
@HospetRailUsers Karnataka deserves more funding compared with other states (Especially North Indian states)
There are many projects pending since many years and we lost hope on @VSOMANNA_BJP
In 1.5year we didn't see any new line opening and new trains introduced within the state (Except VB)
Just stop the blame game @Tejasvi_Surya & @DKShivakumar
We need cheap and better public transport for daily commuting and every year fare hike is not at all feasible
Very unfortunate that our MPs and MLAs don't take up this issue seriously
